I don't know if any of you guys got the e-mail about this film made as a pakistani 'answer' to Gadar! Anyway even though it hasn't been released yet, it's already causing problems! Just take a look at the Guest book to see what people have to say, even though most haven't seen, or wouldn't see the film. Reading the storyline was probably the only thing needed to stir up trouble! In case you haven't worked it out, it's about a Pakistani muslim guy with a Sikh girl. Big trouble indeed!

Here's just a (sample) warning from the guest book: "PLease think carefully before releasing this film, any Cinema that shows this film will only have itself to blame for the repercussions that will possibly come toward the cinema and it's staff. Please don't use bad publicity as your selling tool, along with your disrespect for Sikhism (whydoes the film not show the guy converting to Sikhism to balance the grandmother converting to islam)... This is a warning"

It is apparently one of the most expensive paki films ever made and they claim it is based on a true story (those in the guest book claim Gadar was based on a true story). It is produced by Afzal M. Khan of UK based Paragon Pictures, the same guy who had a hand in controversial pervy film "Ek Chotisi love Story".

Anyway, see what you think

Mr Khiladi.. its always prudent to have a quid-pro-quo for such films....But the result is a predetrmined one :)

Let me give u some examples...

Gandhi was an Indo-British Film and became a commericalt Hit and ended up bagging 8 Oscars.... So there was a wait for sometime.. tilll The "other side" decided that a reply was needed and out came Jinnah.. and you know what happened with Jinnah ( Was well publicized and had its fair share of controversies ..and we all know where it ended up with "Count Dracula" or "Count Doku" or "The Man with The Golden Gun" essaying the role of Jinnah... :D :D .. It sullies the whole plot then and there )

Likewise with this paki version of Gadar... Lets see now... There will quite a huff and a Puff abt this film. Some die hard filmibuffs (not be confused with a nick of a person who is on zulm.net here) will eventually watch the film and it will be shown on some shows hosted by Pakistanis in the U.K and some Pak satellite channels !! Thats it :)
I guarantee you, at the best you will have a Super Class DVD released by APOLLO :) which (if not Ali), trust Faddy to post screenshots here on zulm.net abt that film ......

Oh and btw one more thing... Gadar was widely seen in PIRATED VHS, VCD's and DVDs all over Pakistan and by Pakistanis all over the world... I doubt if this version will get a quid-pro-quo in that aspect amongst non-Pakistanis :) (Read Indians ... except for a miniscule minority here... :D).. I am presuming, just like any films from the "other side", this also will face the same fate :)

Ah Yes, Jinnah! What ever happened to that film? Was it ever released? Or if it was it must've been a mega-flop! I remember they were giving it such big publicity as if it was going to be 'the next Gandhi' and then nothing...

Well not literally but when you have Anil Sharma and Sunny Deol what else can u expect (call this film the Gadar - The next generation)... and these guys have found a sureshot formula of Pak bashing to reap in the Moolah..then so be it ! Trust me... Hero may become the hit film of next year !...
But gosh..Priyanka Chopra as the Pakistani MATA HARI ? :D Thats really an amusing theory... oh and btw.. We did get to see Sunny Deol and the starcast of this film when they were in Toronto last April ....

Apparently they delete all the *bad* messages every night. I suppose your *nice* message must still be there.

Big Deal, the indians did it now the pakistanis are doing it, tit for tat. Only if these people would put the effort in making entertaining films instead of controversial films. I didnt know Pakistan had sexy looking women spies working in india, (oops i think i wasnt supposed to know that or tell anyone).
Sunny deol the  has it in for pakistan, his every other movie is about pakistani terrorists and the squeaky clean india, that shouldnt be allowed to make such stupid biased bullshit movies. If it wasnt for the sexy babes in bollywood i wouldnt even touch indian films.

Who cares for what anyone (other than Indians) watch Bollywood films... The message is definately passed on and it surely does help... BTW folks any bets on how "successful" this film will be ?.. Or are we expected to get another fiasco like Jinnah ?

I think this film will flop amongst Indian communities, but will be a runnaway success with the Pakistani community....but that's it pakistani films don't have a large worldwide viewership and most people don't really care if it's a hit amongst just them, whereas Indian movies have a huge worldwide following and everyone takes notice once an Indian film is a hit. It's no surprise as even Gadar was one of the biggest hits the year it was released.

Babelover

Yes Sunny Deol has it in for Pakistan, just like almost every Pakistani has it in for India. And the same can be said about Aamir Khan with 1947 Earth and Sarfarosh, which didn't exactly show pakistanis in a good light. The difference is Aamir Khan is alot smarter in the way it's put across, whereas with Sunny Deol it's blatent.

I might want to bring out a point:
Gadar was anti-Pakistani, not anti-Islam. It actually had a somewhat unbiassed view of Muslims in the movie. Remember when Sunny Deol gave his huge speech and talked about how there are more Muslims in India than in Pakistan and all that jazz?

I mean, did we have Sunny trying to convert Amisha's religion? No.
