In many posts here , on this forum, we have come across ppl posting huge lists of their DVD collection. However, the sheer enormity of the lists makes it impossible for everyone to go through the lists..in an efficient manner.
Secondly, the lists may have been created in some document (notably MS-WORD) which we all know suckzz big time.

I have tried to present an alternative here. If you want to maintain and distribute professional dvd lists then I suggest you use LateX for writing your documents. You dont have to learn the document processing Lang.

I have uploaded a sample file wherein which you may go on adding all the required information you need. The dvd list that I have uploaded pertains to all DVDs authored by DEI (alone and also in conjunction with EROS)...

It can be found at :-
http://www.zulm.net/sknath/dvd_list.pdf

and alternatively the file (dvd_list.tex) can be found here :-
http://www.zulm.net/sknath/sample.zip

All you have you to do is install a software called MIKTEX :-

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/mikt ... e?download

Download the whole package and install it on ur machine. It will do all the installation for you..No questions asked :)

Then open the dvd_list.tex file in your Favourite text editor (I use Notepad..) and go on modifying it.

Once you have finished the file.. open a MS-DOS command prompt and at the prompt type the following :-

C:\DVD>latex dvd_list
C:\DVD>yap dvd_list
C:\DVD>dvipdfm dvd_list

(assuming you have created a directory called DVD in ur C drive)

the first command converts (compiles) your .tex file into a .dvi (device independent) document.

the second command is not necessary but it helps you check ur document for any mistakes etc.

The third command converts a .dvi document to a .pdf document and you can view that using ADOBE Acrobat ... The beauty of Acrobat is that it has a small BINOCULAR icon which allows you to search for any text in your PDF...

If you want to play around with LaTex do a search on Google for the document "The Not so short introduction to LaTex" ! (again a pdf document)

If you have the complete Acrobat document then you can also sign your document , invisibly, and make it a secure document !

Thats it..you dont need to do anything else other than these :)
