I recently bought the DEI DVD of the Hrishikesh Mukherjee movie Guddi (1971) from IndiaWeekly. I was surprised to find that it was a DVD5. Since most DEI titles are DVD9's occupying more than 7.5 GB on the disk, I want to know if the one I bought was pirated by any chance? The transfer was progressive as pursuant to almost all DEI titles but there is still a chance that DVDShrink might have been used to convert the DVD9 to DVD5.

The DEI DVD review of this movie on Zulm here mentions that it is a Dual Layered DVD.

Can anyone check and confirm whether the DEI DVD of Guddi is indeed a DVD9? If so, what is the size in GB's that the movie is occupying on the disk?

Yep, your DVD-5 is not orig DEI version.

BTW, a company may re-release a DVD with a new version which may very well be an inferior version, shrunk version or - -. It could be legal.

But, the DEI DVD that you picked, definitely is not a DEI DVD as DEI company is no more.

I purchased five other DEI (now, Bollywood Entertainment) titles (Bawarchi, Satyakam, Khubsoorat, Chupke Chupke, Mili) along with this one and they all were DVD9's.

Don't know why they had to shrink the size from DVD9 to DVD5 for only Mili? I have 16 other Bollywood Entertainment titles and it seemed that this company kept the size and transfer quality same as the DEI ones. They have messed up with Mili though.

Btw, are there any titles that were released originally in DVD5 by DEI?

Guddi as well as Milli are DVD-9s like all other DEI/ BEI DVDs including songs DVDs.

Looks like you are mixing up Milli and Guddi ??

Yeah. Sorry for the confusion. I was talking about Guddi indeed.
