Following the tradition of announcing a film on October 24 every year, Subhash Ghai announced not one but two films on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of Mukta Arts at a puja ceremony in Mumbai.
Ghai himself will direct the first film, while the other project will be directed by Abbas-Mustan. Ghai's film will star Dilip Kumar and have music by A.R. Rahman, the first song for which was recorded on October 21. Three male stars and two heroines will be announced on December 24.
At the Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple in Juhu, Ghai and his wife performed puja for all the six movies to be made in the coming year. Each movie will be launched separately on the 24th of every month, starting December 24, 2002.
Shedding light on his film, Ghai revealed that he has just completed its scripting. “I have yet to complete the final sketching of my characters in detail. This is the best script I have ever got. It will spring a surprise for the audience as well as the trade,” he stated.
The cast of the Abbas-Mustan-directed film is being finalized and shooting will commence from January 24, 2003. The film will have music by Himesh Reshammiya and lyrics by Sameer.
Madhur Bhandarkar and Vikram Bhatt will launch their films for Mukta Arts thereafter.
Present on the occasion were Abbas-Mustan, Yash Johar, Govinda, Jackie Shroff, David Dhawan, Vikram Bhatt, Madhur Bhandarkar, Anubhav Sinha, Satish Kaushik, Preity Zinta, Hrishita Bhatt, Arjun Rampal, Gulshan Grover, Anu Malik, Manmohan Shetty, Rakesh Ranjan, Himesh Reshammiya, Aruna Raje, Sameer, Sanjay Chhel and Alka Yagnik
