Hello,

Each release of Mughal-E-Azam seems to have some problem with it, and the reviews I've read here are somewhat vague.

Overall, is there a particular DVD or VHS release that you consider best for watching the film for the first time?

Also, should I just rent it, or is there unlikely to be a better release, and therefore I should just buy the version you recommend?

I like the SHEMAROO copy of MUGHLE-E-AZAM. Unfortunately it is legally sold in India only. Fortunately, either illegally sent copies or its replicated version is widely available in North America at the fraction of the cost. I paid $ 12.50 Cdn for mine. Although the print is excellent, it does have its problems. Mainly, it is an interlaced DVD (90% of Indian DVDs are interlaced anyways).
