Everyone's talking about KAANTE. And the topic of discussion is, when is the film eventually releasing? The film was supposed to hit the theatres in May originally, was shifted to June, then August, later September and now, the film is all set to release in December.
What's adding to the anxiety is that the promos of the film have been on air for quite some time now and there's this feeling that the songs would look stale once the film eventually releases.
However, Sanjay Gupta is unaffected by the hoo-haa. “The first print will be ready by October 15, so I can release the film on either October 25 or November 1,” he tells me, “But my distributors are apprehensive about releasing the film during the holy month of Ramzan, since business of films is at an all-time low in Ramzan, so the film will make it on Idd (December).”
After a pause, Gupta continues, “One has to keep in mind what's conducive for the distributors. Their comfort level has to be looked into. Right now, we are working on the worldwide premieres of the film. Sunil's (Shetty) company Popcorn is involved in it.”
Gupta is least perturbed about the music sounding stale once the film releases. “A new song ('Chhod Na Re') will be on air soon. Besides, the remix versions of the songs will be on air by this weekend, starting with the remix version of 'Rama Re', followed by 'Ishq Samundar', 'Maut', 'Chhod Na Re' and 'Jo Achcha Lagta Hai',” Gupta reveals.
Incidentally, the last track – 'Jo Achcha Lagta Hai' – will be promoted on television, but will not be a part of the film. “How many songs can I incorporate in the film?” Gupta reasons.
