I watched the DEI disc of ABHAY several months ago without a problem. I also watched the Video Sound NAYAK several times without a hiccup. Suddenly, not only my DVD player but two others are reporting that the NAYAK disc "Cannot read this disc." and I've tried 5 different DVDs of ABHAY and not one of them can make it much past chapter 15 or 16 without freezing and crashing on two separate DVD players. Has anyone else experienced what seems to be a case of "disc rot"? I've cleaned the discs, I've tried different players, with ABHAY I've tried different DVDs. What's going on? Am I crazy?

Nope, you're not at all crazy - that's Indian DVDs for you. Exactly the same has happened with my copy of Dil Chahta Hai and Tum Bin..................just waiting for it to happen to others now........ :ffs: :bangbang:

This has happened quite a bit with DVDs, sadly. It seems the cheaper they are manufactured, the more this happens. A lot of US releases by Anchor Bay had this happen.

Of my Indian DVDs, only one of my song DVDs (THE HOTTEST SIX QUEENS OF BOLLYWOOD) had this happen. It won't play the last 15 or so chapters anymore. Used to play fine.

I had the same problem with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (Video Sound). Then I got it exchanegd (same version), which also stopped working after few weeks. Later on I got HDDCS (DEI Version).

When I rented Abhay several months ago it froze up on me in a few places, forcing me to just skip over one or two chapters. I cleaned it several times but to no avail.

I tried to play Dil Chahta Hai yesterday and it froze at the chapter before "Woh Ladki Hai Kahan." I'll try cleaning it a few times and see if it works. It never gave me a problem the last time I watched it, which was about two months ago.

My DIL CHAHTA HAI dvd seems to have crapped out too. Right after the scene in the restaurant for Tara's birthday, it stuck and wouldn't go any further. The Scene Select menu wouldn't work either.

This really bugs me. I want to own this movie but why replace it if the new one might do the same thing!

Sorry. no luck there - I got the UK version (well, the version with the PG certificate on the cover) and it freezes in the same place that Pagalchand's does. You can skip past a couple of chapters and watch the rest of the movie though on my DVD, but it's pretty pointless, seeing as that is one of the main parts of the movie!
