Mohanlal- Jaya: Odd pairing

Mohanlal and Jaya Bachchan have been paired in a Hindi and Malayalam bilingual based on T. Padmabhaman's novel Kadal. While we are used to seeing Hindi film actors being cast opposite heroines half their age, this is for the first time one will get to watch an actress playing a wife to a much younger actor, Mohanlal. The film is to be directed by Shaji N Karun. After enthralling the masses with his wonderful performance in Ramgopal Varma's Company, this will be Mohanlal's second brush with Hindi industry.

:baaa: I was completely DISGUSTED with MOHNLAAL's DIOLOGUE DELIEVRY in HINDI..COMPANY!!
I felt it was THE BIGGEST spoiler in his performance!

I found, NAG ARJUNA, PRABHU DEVA's Hindi diologues more likeable in AGNIVARSHA! what is prob with MOHNLAAL! :baaa: :bangbang: ???

Arsh who cares abt his dialogue delviery... In fact his dialogue delivery helped his case in the film... didnt you notice he was a MALAYALAM police inspector in the film... where does it state that he must know HINDI :)

Now I am really amazed at point which you have made...
Mohanlal and Shaji Karun I can understand ( they have given us many arty films which are classics in their own right).. However Mohanlal & Jaya Bachchan and Shaji Karun... now that will be quite interesting..considering Jaya made her comeback to Films.. with an arty film...Govind Nihlani's Hazaar Churashi Ki Maa !

But!! yaar! even being posted from MALAY to BOMBAY,I still strictly, think, his HINDI diologues were OBTRUCTIVe for HIS emoting!!
Believe me, IF he would be saying in MALYALAM, his EMOTING will be MUCH stronger! IMHO! :baaa:

I like Mohanlal's dialogue delivery in Company!!! This is gonna be hard to explain, but I think it added something to his performance, especially with lines like 'Kaun kehta hain ke hum kanoon ke andar kaam karta hai'

But Arsh, I do understand your point - the strong accent might not work for certain roles.

His accent highlighted the fact that he was from da south, aka a different place, and he was trying to mess up the established strongholds of the GOONS...

I concur with others that Mohanlal's accent was actually a benefit to the role he was playing. In this case it would have been detrimental to the role to dub the voice.

In a lot of cases the accent does not help and hence is normally dubbed as in the case of Prabhudeva in AGNIVARSHA. It was dubbed by Makarand Deshpande methinks....not sure about Nagarjuna's voice...i do believe his own voice was used since his Hindi diction is pretty decent..
