Hi Michel,

You reviewed Shemaroo Pakeeza and perhaps also Mughle-a-zam. I think, you obtained them directly from India. I wonder if those DVDs had proper flags set for them to be recognized as Film DVDs??

I am curious to know this as the Shemaroo DVDs that we get here are perhaps the replicated ones. They have vibrant colors and sharp prints but, as was shown in Awaraa and Prem Rog screen caps, have multi-images in a video frame and are not recognized as Film source DVDs. The equipment that Shemaroo has, according to their web site, is very impressive and hence I doubt they will mess up their DVDs like this.

If Shemaroo DVDs in India are any different than what's available here, then I would like to get those DVDs from India despite the extra hasstle.

Thanks.

Rana

Hi,
Pakeezah from Shemaroo has not the flags properly set.
My Power DVD mixes frames during stepping. Concerning
methods not relying on flags I will have to check how it
looks via the Faroudja.
Anyway, progressive versus interlaced is of little importance with this DVD as the noise reduction is so
awful that it's not worth purchasing for that alone.
Textures are always losing all detail when in motion and
whole image parts are floating around in the picture.
I have no worse DVD than this one concerning noise
reduction. Utter crap. It's also cropped and not 16:9
enhanced.
Wait for a decent version.
MH

Dear Rana
Recently I ordered Bobby dvd (Shemaroo) from indiaweekly. I think the print and the sound quality is just perfect like the dvds of dei. I have also got their Mughal e azam. I am happy with prinit quality. You will be happy to know that if you can order them in india it costs just Rs550 check their web site. I am thinking of buyig some of old classics like Sangam, Awara Shri 420 and Guide from them.

Regards

Gautam

Gautam if you follow the threads here carefully u will find out that no other desi company comes even near to the standards maintained by DEI.. The dvds by Shemaroo are indeed very good, but only when compared with their pathetic counterparts at YASHRAJ ( for the RK films) or EROS ( for some classics as GUIDE).... But other than that they are no good...
They encode their dvds in an interlaced fashion which spoil the beauty of watching dvds in a progressive format

ps:- The price is good..with the caveat that they dont ship outside India.. so technically you would have to ask someone in India to ship them for you !
