Stop Thief screen articles (probably referring to the thieving from Blue Streak :p );

Interviews;

Shilpa Shetty - I’m not dumb to believe all my boyfriend says

Bobby Deol - I hate repeating myself! :oo:

Bipasha Basu - There is more to me than just sex-symbol

David Dhawan - Never say die (only if! :oh: )

Quote:
Your last two films, Hum Kissi Se Kam Nahin and Yeh Hai Jalwa were inspired by Hollywood flicks. CMS, allgedly is based on the English hit Blue Streak. Are you losing your originality as your critics suggest?
I never copy a film frame-by-frame. I only take the germ of an idea and develop it. Name one filmmaker who is totally original. Even in the past people used to do it but they never got caught because information wasn’t freely available. It isn’t easy to adapt foreign scenarios for the Indian audience. You have to literally change things head-over-heels. I’d say it takes more doing than working on a screenplay from scratch.
:O

Rajiv Tolani - The big leap

Here is REDIFF!

Attack of the clones
Chor Machaaye Shor is filled with lookalikes

http://www.rediff.com/entertai/2002/aug/30chor.htm

This is the basic premise of David Dhawan's latest offering Chor Machaaye Shor. Starring Bobby Deol, Shilpa Shetty, Bipasha Basu, Paresh Rawal, Om Puri and Shekhar Suman, Chor Machaaye Shor is a crazy ride all the way.

Complicating matters further is Dhawan's fetish for twins in the film. Almost every major character seems to have one. For no apparent reason, we have a Tamil speaking dance master (Paresh Rawal) and Punjabi truck driver (Om Puri). Which does make it one twin too many to handle.

The movie is full of absurdities, inanities and clichés but Dhawan still manages to raise a few laughs.

Anu Malik's music, though is a different tale altogether. Coupled with lyrics like Mera dil toh Pali Hill hai and Kaan ke neeche bajaa daloonga it only serves to make you cringe.

If Chor Machaaye Shors has one strong point, it is the performance of its cast. Not only do versatile actors like Paresh Rawal and Om Puri steal the show, even Bobby Deol displays great comic timing in an uninhibited performance.

Sadly, Shekhar Suman, despite -- or maybe because of -- his seven characters tends to go overboard.

Actresses Bipasha Basu and Shilpa Shetty do not have substantial roles. The leggy duo in fact, are simply required to look glamourous, and dance to a few tunes.

Chor Machaaye Shor is a typical Bollywood masala potboiler with fun, romance, music and mandatory dishum-dishum. But if you are attuned to and enjoy David Dhawan's brand of humour, then this one is a barrel of laughs.

:baaa: ha ha!I am laughing already! :bangbang:

Now here is KOMAL VILLA!!

CHOR MACHAAYE SHOR - (Reviewed By Komal Nahta)

Director: David Dhawan
Music: Anu Malik
Lyrics: Dev Kohli & Others
Producer: Sanjay Tolani
Starring: Bobby Deol, Sushmita Sen & Bipasha Basu

RATING: 4/10

Geeta Enterprises’ Chor Machaaye Shor (UA) is a wacky film with a wafer-thin story-line.

http://www.radiosargam.com/movies/movie ... /c/cms.htm

David Dhawan seems to have bounced back in form with this film. His narration is smooth and his comedy punches evince audience laughter and participation. But his sidetracking of the main story and its casual treatment will definitely tell on the film’s box-office performance. In most of his other successful films, the lighter part of the drama has always been restricted to a few individuals but in this one, the comedy encompasses not just the police but the state too, giving the impression that everyone is brainless.

Anu Malik’s music is hummable. ‘Ishqan ishqan’ is the best song, followed by ‘Chadh gayi’ and ‘Aankhen hai teri badi badi’. In the second half, songs are placed too close to one another and they also have no situations. Song picturisations (Ganesh Acharya) are eye-filling. Camerawork (Harmect Singh) is very good. Action and stunts (Abbas Ali Moghul) are very well composed. Production values are rich.

On the whole, Chor Machaaye Shor has merits to entertain the audience and is also reasonably priced. But a dull start almost everywhere will come in the way of its smooth journey. Considering its dull start on the one hand and its intrinsic merits on the other, the film will definitely pick up by word of mouth. Business in Bombay and Maharashtra will be much above the average mark. In some other circuits, the film may sail safe but the producers’ deficit will remain.

????? how did VICKI OBEROY got in there

??? :bangbang: did clone went wrong?

How about the Les Mayfield who had originally directed Blue Streak?

Honestly Doubled sized David Dhawan is now becoming even more lazy!

Even as Chor Machaaye Shor is David Dhawan’s best attempt this year, out of three incessantly mind-numbing films, it is still evident that the director desperately needs a break. This more evident in Chor Machaaye Shor as the director takes a remake of Hollywood’s Blue Streak into desi land where everyone has a twin and not one of them make sense, even in Dhawan´s non-sensical film world. So Chor Machaaye Shor is definitely watchable and has a few chuckling scenes, but is far from acquiring the rib tackling statuses that some of Dhawan’s more hilarious comedies like Biwi No. 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan etc have retained.

There are a few things to laugh about in the film, and for once we’re not laughing at them. The script, though unoriginal and as previously mentioned unbelievable at portions has included Dhawan styled comics which are at times successful. The script also makes use of typical dialogues, in which some comedy seems forced and others at ease. The film is also polished rather than using typical and odd looking sets. The cinematography and choreography by Ganesh Acharya are all worth the mention and the look.

The film also carries itself well along for a little more than two and a half hours. The editing has been looked over well enough but not good enough. The songs do pop out of anywhere, pointlessly and some of the scenes play little relevance to the film. Even still, it is nice to see a film which hasn´t suffered from delays. Most Bollywood films are in production for over a year or so and take a great deal of time to release thereafter. Chor Machaaye Shor is a decent product, probably because of this.

The film also abounds in plenty of well shot action scenes. Most of them are entertaining but some are still a further drawback in the pace of the film, making the “Blue Streak” inspiration quite apparent. But more importantly David Dhawan seems to have placed more effort here than he has in Yeh Hai Jalwa and Hum Kisise Kum Nahin. Efforts quite evident, the effort is still not enough to make him the comedy king he once was.

I cant believe that folks here are *actually* discussing abt the film... Come on guys.. Bobby Deol as Martin Lawrence... I cant imagine that in any realistic sense  . I wonder what actors like Paresh Rawal & Om Puri are doing in this film... :oh: ... And to top it all the songs are all yucky  No doubt abt that.. I had to delete the songs, so as to conserve my HDD space :)

Did you guys watch Blue Streak? Les Mayfield, etc lifted the 'Eddie Murphy as a delivery boy' routine from Beverly Hills Cop. It goes to show that copying is alive and well in Hollywood too.
