Tabu in a Bengali movie
After winning laurels for her histrionics in Hindi films (and a few films down South), Tabu will now try her hand at a Bengali film to be directed by Goutam Ghose. The film called Abar Aranye is an extension of Satyajit Ray's film Aranyer Din Ratri. The film stars one more Bong beauty-Sharmila Tagore. She plays Tabu's mother in the film. The shooting will begin sometime in September when the rains will soak in the picturesque Bengal. Tabu will certainly prove to be the mishti dohi of Bengal cinema, shotti! .

You actually like Goldmember?
I found it to be incredibly stale, with the writers reusing the same old jokes from the first two, over and over again. And the character of Goldmember? He was just disgusting, not funny at all. There were funny moments, but they were few and far in-between.

I agree. Although I really liked the first to Austin Powers movies (have them both on DVD), Goldmember just doesn't cut it. It had some funny moments like the part where Powers subs in for the statue but most of the other antics came off as lame because of the repetitiveness. The Goldmember character was just pointless, and the ending terrible. The series has run its course imo; my favorite remains The Spy Who Shagged Me.

Ironically, I actually enjoy Indian slapstick...

YHJ I hated.
HKKN I didn't particularly like. Impresive starcast, but that's it.

Jodi no. 1 I kinda liked.

Movies like Haseena Maan Jayege and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (When Govinda had good movies), I quite enjoyed, though most didn't. I really didn't find them stale and overdone like the last in the Austin Powers series.

Well!! YHJ/HKKN, I did not find funny!

Jodi #1, i hated!

BMCM, DEEWANA MASTANA..I liked!

Now, GOLDMEMBER!! leaving, plot, characterization, aside, IT WAS TOO LEAN..Saving the world, was too STUPID, comparative to the FIRST TWO FILMS!

LAUGH FACTOR, IMHO, along with HOLLYWOOD parodies by STARS, like TOM CRUISE, Denny DEVIETO, Gwaneyth Paltro, John Travolta! I simply loved it!! I think, I did not laugh that much in the FIRST two! I dont know why? May be I was in more JOVIAL, mode, lol!! :baaa:

Wow, this is turning into an Austin Powers thread!

I liked the first one the best because it was an interesting idea. A parody/tribute to the spy films of the 60s, except this time, the spy was in a time period totally different from his own. I also liked the jokes better. The second one had too many poop and fat jokes. Nothing necessarily wrong with either, but they didn't belong in this film.

I didn't see Goldmember yet. I'll see it on 50-cent Tuesday at the dollar theater when it finally gets there. Mike Myers' charm took the second one further than it probably could have gone, IMHO. But it seems that he didn't really have a complete sequel in him, so for the second film, he filled the dead space with him drinking excrement and a fat gross guy. I thought much of the second film was funny, but the gross humor brought it down a notch in my eyes. I'm sure I'll laugh during Goldmember, but I doubt it will be the kind of enduring laughter that I get watching the first film. I still laugh when I think of the suave ladies' man Austin who has to have a penis pump. (an example of genital humor that works because of the context)

Dragun believe me...you are so right dude!! The second Austin Powers was way better than the first and Goldmember.
Although Goldmember lacks austins charm, its worth a watch.
I was disappointed a little bit since Dr. Evil's character had less screen time than he deserved...come on this guy is more funnier than austin powers...

p.s. on another note..anyone here a SNL fan?

I used to be a Saturday Night Live fan. It is dreck now, though. Jimmy Fallon can be pretty funny when he doesn't crack up during the sketch. That is, if the sketch is good in the first place. Amy Poehler, who used to be on Upright Citizens Brigade, is a funny person and does the best she can with the material given. Now that Will Ferell is gone, I guess it is up to Tracy Morgan, Chris Parnell and Jimmy Fallon to carry the show.
