Ash gets signs from M Shyamalan
In an interview to the press Aishwarya Rai said that she has been receiving calls from agents in Hollywood asking for dates. "It's been five months post Cannes and agents have been still calling me, now I know it is for real," she said. It may be noted that Ash was the cynosure of all eyes at the Cannes Film Festival that premiered Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas. She was even featured on the cover of US' Vanity Fair and UK's Sunday Telegraph. "The media there found it strange that I had still not appointed an agent in Hollywood. I do plan to go to New York and LA sometime in September to appoint one." But Ash also maintained that she preferred to be the queen here rather than be a slave there. "I'm not in awe of Hollywood," she said. The actress was however surprised when Julia Roberts called her unassumingly beautiful. "Even Manoj Night Shyamlan has been calling me," she revealed. But Ash plans to be in India for good!

For the first time in its history, well-known glamour magazine Vanity Fair has published a special supplement on Bollywood in its May 2002 issue. And gracing the cover of this section is the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai, the first Indian actress to get this honor.

While Hollywood actress Kirsten Dunst features on the cover of the main magazine, the former Miss World-turned-actress Ash has made it to the Bollywood special cover.

The 48-page section boasts some of the biggest names from the Indian film Industry in it.

The special section also features a 10-page photo feature on Indian actors including super star Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Rekha and Arjun Rampal amongst others.

It also includes articles on Mumbai’s film industry and has a fashion feature titled ‘Modern Exotica’ with famous model Yasmin Le Bon wearing couture by Indian designers, Rohit Bal, Rina Dhaka and Abraham and Thakore.

The special issue has write ups by many Asian writers including Meera Syal, Nitin Sawhney and Udita Jhunjhunwala about the Indian film scenario for the supplement.

(I don't know in which countries this was published)

If its true about Shyamalan, I could see something really big for this industry then. Shyamalan IMHO is one of the most talented directors Hollywood has.

That's a far cry from gracing the COVER of the MAGAZINE, I'm afraid.
