Well actually u are close arsh...
Saanjh = evening (sunset)
Baatir = time

so Saanjh Bathir = evening time or sunset

RoopKatra = curves, meanderings or as they have said silhouettes)...

So a literal translation would be.. the silhouettes you see in the sky when the sun is setting ...

" ami bangali khubh bhalo kore bolte pari. ami kolkatta prai 20 bhochor thekechi.guys can you tell me where I can either rent or buy( in & around the GTA area ) old bengali movies, especially movies belonging to 1975-1985 era which in my opinion would have been the golden ere of bengali cinema. can't recall having missed any movies of Uttam Kumar/Suchitra sen. Also brings to mind Satyajit Ray's, "Apur Sansar", the trioligy & some of you might remember " Goopy Gine Bagha Byne".If CT is going to release " Saanjhbathir Roopkathara", it must be a good movie, any previews available yet. :p

Nah ... Title ek SEX-BOMB hai :)

By the way i like the title also ( at least it doesnt have the clichéd words of Pyar, dilwale, dulhaniya, ishq, mohabbat , dosti etc etc etc etc etc etc..*yawn* )..and Soumitra Chatterjee is a veteran of Bengali movies... The fav actor of Satyajit Ray (along with late. Utpal Dutt)... His previous movies are gems in their own rights..esp the ones with Satyajit Ray ...If you get a Chance watch his Feluda Series ( Feluda is a detective character which Satyajit Ray created..I have all the novels...u can say equiv to Sherlock holmes...and man o man.. Soumitra as Feluda and Utpal Dutt as Maganlal Meghraj ( the villain).. just awesome it was like 2 titans clashing on the screen )

I wish Columbia Tristar releases a good dvd of this movie

Wow Jas.. tumi GTA tey aacho naki ?... Ami Ottawa tey aachi,,, unfortunately bad luck.. you cant rent any Bengali films here in this accursed land (unless some dare devil buchanner takes a lead )..
& I beg to differ
The golden age of Bengali films started with the Maha Nayak himself and peaked when he and Suchitra Sen were MFEO.. and ended the day he died..and completely vanished when Satyajit Ray passed away.
However all is not lost...
Aparna Sen, Rituparna Sengupta etc are making a sincere effort to revive Bengali movies...
Did you see the Mithun, Aparna Sen, Kankana Sen ( real and reel daughter of Aparna Sen ? ) starrer film TITLI ? I heard it is the blockbuster of this year !

Any word on whether CT will release the film on DVD? I wouldn't mind a Cinebella release, though.
