After Eros and DEI split, why did Eros redo many of the DVDs that DEI mastered for them? Since Eros owns the rights to the films of those transfers, wouldn't Eros be able to do anything they wanted with them? Or was there some clause in the contract stating that if DEI did the transfer, the DEI logo had to be on the disc and/or cover?
It seems to me that it is a waste of money to make a second, inferior transfer of a film after DEI made a good transfer of it first.
I believe the DVD of "Dr. Strangelove" uses the LD transfer that Criterion made, so maybe the same thing applies here.
