HAVE PIRATE VERSIONS OF DEVDAS AFFECTED BOX OFFICE?
The Bollywood movie managed 93% first week collections!

After an excellent opening weekend last week, how has Devdas fared at the box office at the end of week one?

The film’s first week collections in Mumbai were in the mid nineties percent range, with many fans going back over and over again to watch the movie repeatedly. However collections have fallen in some areas.

Meanwhile in the UK, the film is creating a rage amongst the British Asian audience. The opening week’s box office collections are going to be high although we will have to wait a while before we find out.

Pirated versions of the movie have already hit the market and are selling like hot cakes. However worldwide distributors for the movie have put up a possible reward for customers who help prosecute the people behind the pirate versions.

:baaa: ;) :vsneaky:

radiosargam is a bit dull. for one thing, why did they use taran's numbers, when he so obv has hated the movie from the get-go and will do anything in his power to make it fail..

komal has put the percentage at 98% for the first week!!

i think you can't expect anything better than that, consdiering it opened on so many screens!

u may find it cheaper for large family's to watch it on pirate dvd rather than fork out alot to go to the cinema then again with the school holidays in full swing they could make it into a day out treat for themselves as well as the kids !!!

some impact on the box office will be felt by the pirate doin the rounds !!

The show I went to only had about 25-30 people watching. I was expecting it to be really full. But the manager did say that he had run 11 shows instead of the usual six this last Friday.

Pirate DVD version of Devdas will in the end have an effect on the overall box-office, home video/dvd sales monies collected by the film rights owner. I can assure you that the original DVD of Devdas won't be a high seller as expected as their are numerous circulations of the discs within the community. A similar thing happened with the DVD of Lagaan & Mission Kashmir, as much of the public still dont know that both films are now owned by American companies.

I agree with Audit, none of retail stores picked up official MK release at all, they did not need to, along with ASOKA and Lagaan to lesser extent..worst effected was MK!
Retailers claim that they had sold so many pirated copies, making twice to thrice as much as they would make from original MK! that they dont have any customers left, and any greed more to fullfill from MK sale! ironical indeed! :baaa: :bangbang:

ITS very true, the only reason that the old SRK movies ran soooo long on screen is cuz VCD wasnt popular then, no man every person has the dvd and doesnt find a need to goto the theatre...............I am against pirate all the way !!! :ffs:
