most of my video clips that i have from my hindi vcd's seem to be .DAT format, any idea how to convert them into mpeg format?

Hi Khiladi,
Its a simple process described here http://www.vcdhelp.com/convertdat.htm .
All you need is a small software called VCDGear GUI v0.02. Download it from the link above and follow the instructions on the website. Hope that helps.
