I am just curious with the sudden rise of dvd-r, if backing up dvd is truly possible..I guess what I am saying is that with cd-r we can completely copy it to another cd maintaining relatively the same quality...is such a dvd recording a reality today for the common person...if so, how can one go about doing it..thanx

nah dont bother yet as the blanks cant hold the same capacity as the originals so in many cases not all of the dvd can be copied, extras/commentries etc have to be left out so it fits on the disc.

not worth it although blanks can be got for about $1.50 now or a £1ish! :baaa: :baaa: :baaa: :baaa:

Blanks have half the capacity of a standard dvd, so don't try copying. They're really just meant to burn files on...

However, I have a friend with a cd burner, and he has a special way of copying movies: He rips them from the dvd, audio, subtitles, and all, creates quick menus, and then burns them on the dvd. The quality is nearly the same, and he can fit three American movies on one half-capacity dvd this way.
