Heyyy everyone,
Well i am in india on vacation and i saw Devdas 3 times on screen and a week later my cuzin got the dvd home ( the pirate obviously) and it had scenes which werent in the movie on screen. Now thats funny cuz i thot us uk and can had deleted scenes. For Example....
1. The Family Playing Cards And Ash Walks in With
A sondesh right before she goes to visit Srk
2. Devdas' bhabi talking about ash's mom right
ash's mom enters for the first time.
3. When Srk Leaves his house after him mom asks him
there is a whole sequence showing him leave like a
whole 2 mins.
4. Madhuri has a different exit.
5. They show Devdas' Dad dying and saying sorry to
Paro.

Now i am confused the dvd was obviously made out of india, so did india get the short version??? Lemme know!! If necessary i will try getting some screen shots!!!! OK! :)

I saw the film twice in the US and don't remember any of the scenes you described. The print I saw was right at about 180 minutes yet there is reportedly a 155 minute cut with different scenes added in.

i have the 155 minute one (pirate dvd)

it has all the scenes you describe - actually that is because it (the 155min one) is the one that was shown in ENGLISH theatres..

as far as i have been able to piece together, the one i have seen doesn't include: baire piya, dola re dola, and the srk scene where he is saying i object (drunk one)

... so i really missed out on a lot..

hopefully the eros dvd will include ALL SCENES!

I've seen both!!

The one shown in the UK cinemas was the longer version and did NOT contain:

Quote:
5. They show Devdas' Dad dying and saying sorry to
Paro.

Whilst the pirate copy (which was imported from Pakistan)
DID contain the scenes mentioned above, but did not contain several other scenes and songs also the pirate DID have the voice-over at the end!!

I heard they had to cut a huge amount of scenes from the final cut, if only they release a 4 Disc Epic Collectors Edition DVD Package ala Pearl Harbor! Which would include
Bhansali's, SRK's, Ash's & Mads-Commentaries
A Directors Cut of the film.
Deleted Scenes
Press Coverage
THE LOT!!

If only.... :bangbang:

That's weird because the print they ran in Indianapolis was the 180 minute cut. I would've thought all the North American theaters ran the same version.

My burning question:
Has ANYONE seen a version with "Chaand jaisi ladki" in it?

Also: has anyone seen a version explaining where the frigging **** Devdas goes in this bizarre six month gap after he's been kicked out of his parents' haveli? He's not with Paro, because she goes looking for him; he's not with Chandramukhi, b/c she tells Paro she hasnt seen him for six months; and he's not with Chunnilal, because Chunnilal is surprised to see him (when he returns right before 'Chalak Chalak'). Or is the timing just depicted in a confusing way -- i.e., was he actually at home for six months, and then got kicked out right before CHalak Chalak)?

Or does the other (shorter) version have an explanatory scene? GAH!!

Izzy, can you tell me

1) when does the Chaand Jaisi Ladki song come in? What scenes does it follow (and what scene follows it?)? I'm really curious --

and 2) what's the explanation of the 6 month thing? what scene explains it?

Why did they release so many versions? It's driving me crazy!
