_rb nope.. Rogers Digital Cable is one piece of shit and the only Desi channel you can subscribe to is ATN ( Indian I mean)... However I did get the news that ZEE & STAR may expand their network to cover Canada also... (wonder when that will be).

I hope this news comes true... atn sucks..... well i am in the process of finding out some deals on dish network. I was told if u buy multiple recivers there are some dealers who can make arrangements for you..... i guess it is better to wait and find out whether star tv will be part of the dish network line up......

Hello,

It is very very easy to get the Dish Network and it's channels in Canada (infact, even DirecTV is available)

There are plenty of ads for these in Indian / Desi papers available at grocery stores and religious places alongwith many ads in PennySaver (in the west end)

I have got DishNetwork and I see ZEE, Z Gold, B4U, Sony and TV Asia. Add to it PPV Cricket that I see + one PPV Movie channel. I don't really watch Rogers Cable apart from 11 pm news and 11:35 pm Jay Leno Show. :-)

STAR in USA/Canada:

I called them up recently and they still say the same thing. We are in the process of getting it.... since last 2 yrs now. Not much happening on this front.

I work for Rogers Cable in the their repair department and the offer you are talking about _rb_ is tha of the digital box and the new digital channels that Rogers launched last year....our **STUPID** give the impression that we are offering all digital channels free. Rogers offers: ATN/ZEE, ATN/Alpha Punjabi, ATN/B4U and Sur Sagar.

ATN/Tamil
ATN/B4U Hindi Movies
ATN Tamil
Alpha Punjabi Channel
Sur Sagar TV
Tamil Vision

ok i found out it would cost $50 US/MONTH, plus the receiver would cost $100US..and you would also have to get the dish...

now here's the thing - since we're in canada, legally we can't get it

so how would the people that you mentioned in the classified ads pay for it??

would they want a one-time or the same fees as Dish?
