OK, so Devdas has been released, most people have loved it etc etc - that's not what I want to talk about.

A lot of people are carrying on about how Devdas cost Rs 50 crore to make, and apparently, it shows (I haven't seen the movie yet). But, is that Rs 50 crore justified? What I mean is that Bharat Shah and co and carrying on about how they spent so much money, made the most expensive Hindi film ever, and I'm sure they'll rake it all back, but they just seem to be very materialistic about the whole thing.

The makers know that they are gonna make their money back, so why didn't they do something for a charitable cause. More over, didn't 1 or 2 people die on the sets of Devdas.........how much of the profits are going to go to their families?

From the making of the movie, everything is being raved about - be it SLBs direction, Ismail Darbar's music, the performances of SRK, Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit, and these factors undoubtedly made the film what it is. But why has everyone forgotten those who died?

I don't want to turn this into another Aamir vs Shahrukh war like the other thread, but after the Bhuj earthquake, Aamir Khan adopted a village, and helped then to a certain extent to cope with their losses. Have the crew of Devdas done anything like this?

OK, moan over. I just think it's unfair that the contribution of the people who really worked harder than any of the cast in making Devdas what it is shouldn't be forgotten.

DEVDAS is certainly not a perfect movie.
Yes it had its moments... but it is far from complete. I don't at all understand how people even come close to comparing it to Bimal Roy's version. How many of you can seriously say that they didn't cringe at the overacting of all the side-lined characters in the movie. they were awful and quite underdeveloped.. the mothers, the bhabhi, the father... sigh..

but, back to the topic.. there was one thing that was perfectly executed... the building of the sets was astounding... they literally built two whole homes... amazing..not the design of the sets, mind you, but the fact that a group of people organized each other into making a flawless set in the end.

the cheering is to those who toiled for this movie.. not to those who made a big deal about it, and are now reaping all the praise.

Just one name to answer your question bhaskar= Bharat Shah

I think it should be a producer's responsibility to give respects to every single individual (living or dead) that worked hard in contributing to the films completion. Bharat Shah is more or less a fucking "chor" who most probably used the money of the underworld to make such an epic proportional film. And such an individual could probably care less if a few people died during the making of Devdas. He's probably a one track minded individual and cares about nothing except for money.

Aamir Khan on the other hand has proved to many that he is a very down to earth person, who obviously believes in the quality of his work and not quantity. For Aamir Khan to pay continuous respects to those people of Bhuj while promoting Lagaan almost everywhere he went is no surprise to me. That's Aamir Khan for you.

OK, Bharat Shah didn't pay tribute or mention the workers that died. But i don't think that is any excuse for SLB and the rest of the stars of the movie not to say anything - or are they just too 'big' to talk about chhote log?

Again, I think it should be the responsibility of the Producer to very first pay respects to those who passed away, and it should be the duty of the producer to let his team know that they must also pay respects to everyone who has worked hard in helping them produce there product. And if Sanjay Bhansali passed comments like "shit happens", than that's his stupidity.

While Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas was in production, there were several news reports of a few people dying on the sets caused by putting together of the large sets & lightings.
