Can anyone tell me in 'idiot terms', how to access the subtitles on Taal DVD. The DVD is supposed to have subtitles but I am not sure why they don’t appear.

There are many different versions of Taal floating around, including pirates even if the labelling is EROS. Depending on which version you have, it may or may not have sub-titles.

Does eros release more than one official version? The version I have says 16 x 9 enhanced anamorphic widescreen on the cover and looks genuine enough. On its reverse side, it does say that it contains Subtitles.

Not too sure if I am right, but I think in 16:9 subtitles don't work and in 4:3 they do.

Sorry for being so stupid, but how do I change from 16:9 to 4:3?

Yeap filmibuff is right on how to switch the aspect ratio and so was I here is a blurb from M. Hafners review :

Quote:
The disc has a serious mastering bug that makes subtitles invisible UNLESS you tell your DVD player that you have a 4:3 TV and want it to down sample the anamorphic version to a letterboxed version with less scan lines.

Here is the link to the review which includes the cover for you to determine if your dvd is original or not :
