July 15, 2002. India is becoming the flavour of the season around the world - in film festivals at least. SRK is supposed to have a retrospective at Edinburgh. Milind Soman-Raveena starrer Agnivarsha is to be the opening film at the Commonwealth Film Festival. And now Aamir Khan has been chosen as a part of the jury on the Indian panel along with Aruna Vasudev and Anita Desai for the 55th Locarno Film Festival to be held at Switzerland.
The festival is to feature a special section on Indian cinema from 1972 to 2002. A book by Italio Spinelli which covers Indian cinema, both Hindi and regional, will accompany this section. Curated by Uma da Cunha, Indian Summer will feature a selection of around 30 titles produced in India over the past 25 years. Lagaan had won a public choice award at the festival last year.
