Bollywood is abuzz with rumors that director Prakash Mehra has approached Amitabh Bachchan to play the leading role in his next film, a sequel to his 70s’ hit “Zanjeer.”

In the new film, Mehra may repeat the “Zanjeer cast” – Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan – in the leading roles. Moreover, he is also rumored to have penned a special role for Abhishek Bachchan to play their son in the film.

In the past Amitabh and Prakash Mehra jodi has given Bollywood big hits like “Namak Halal” and “Sharaabi”.

last year - and there were talks at that time that it may be a sequel to 'Zanjeer'.

As of yet this project is roumor reported by Apun Ka Choice, about 2 years back i read in StarDust section where stars and directors are asked question to which they respond to and PM was asked about that he was ontrested in making Zanjeer 2 what happend to that movie and PM said that he told Jaya Bachchan and she liked the idea and said that send the script to Big B and see what he has to say about it and then he said that BIg B said he will get back to him soon and its been sometime that he hasnt contacted me, (which showed Big B didnt wanna do this movie) more recently on TV i think it was Sony Tv or Star Tv it was reported BIG B and PM will be doing a film together same thing was said by IndiaFM and then Smash Hits said that The movie in discussoin was Called Ghungroo and that Big B declined it and Suresh Oberoi got this project and now Apun Ka choice informs that they will be doing Zanjeer 2

A few years back this ace filmmaker was contemplating on doing a sequel to the Amitabh-Jaya starrer 'Zanjeer', and this part 2 was going to be another mega-starrer, but with a whole bunch of stars of the golden-era. In fact sources claimed that this would star the Big B once again, guess it was literally gonna be a sequel, huh? The big plans were shelved for reasons unknown, but now the latest buzz in the grapevine is that Prakash Mehra is plunging in to another project with the Big B and when these two biggies get together, we can surely expect nothing but best. The duo have celebrated the brilliant success of films like 'Sharaabi' and 'Namak Halaal', sure this one, that's if it ever happens will be another feather in their cap. Even if it doesn't, let's make a toast to the duo…for old times sake at atleast!
