Ordered Shemaroo Pyaasa Sawan - and it doesn't play whole way through :ffs:

Why on earth have Eros cropped this?!

I just backed it up as I opened a sealed copy from a few Yrs back.

I had picked up quite a few Shemaroo DVDs a few Yrs back when their playability was suspect. (Actually, I was told that their playability problems have been fixed). For the suspected rot problem DVDs, I usually open them only when I'm ready to back it up right away (There still are another 30-40 Shemaroo DVDs from that pile).

(we figured out in the past, that many a discs that do play as you open the sealed cover, the rot-able discs start acting up with time and keep getting worst)

Comments:

Although it's not field blended, it is 50 to 60 converted (it's 4% speed up). It has a 3-3 pattern, instead of 2-3.
Film 1981 CC shows film length of 4910 meters which is 179 min.
Shemaroo DVD is 161 min, 167.5 min film run time. (Discrepancy is 11.5 min)

What's the EROS DVD run time ??

Why did ZEros choose to crop the Top and the Bottom when the DVD isn't Anamorphic? That's stupidity!

I had ordered 6 Shemaroo DVDs, and the first thing I did after opening the sealed cover was to try to back them up. Of these DVDs, only Muskurahat and Zamana backed up fully. Sau Din Saas Ke and Pyaasa Sawan only back up approximately half of the disc, and Tyagi and Prem Tapasya aren't recognised by any of my DVD players or PCs.

Jeepers!! I never knew freezing / rotting problems were so much with Shame - Aroo DVDs!! :|
Only 3 of my Shemaroo DVDs have rotted.
One was a HDDCS, cheap @ ₹99. Therefore, cheap media ? Froze from the midpoint to the end. After a few days, when I played it, my player gave me a message in Chinese:rofl:
And No Entry.. Froze badly! Screwed my Denon (?????) player!! Only plays the first few minutes
Lastly, M - E - A, manufactured at Jet Speed ( :ffs: ) Never played!!

Otherwise, I've had no problems!! :D

Who replicated these discs? (i.e., Sony DACD, Jet Speed, Futuristic...)

Not sure - have returned them to Induna now, and didn't check before hand.
