Kohra
Himmatwala
Soni Mawali
Professor
Aye Milan Ki Bela

Mar/Apr
Narsimha
Shahenshah (same transfer as Tip-Top)
Junglee
Gulami
Sadma

Also releasing over 2004 are 50 song DVDs that are a co-injunction of Hindi film songs from the BEI and Samrat film catelogues. Each will be generic (e.g. Hits of Mohd Rafi, Hits of Lala, Hits of Kishore Kumar etc...) Samrat quality of thier songs will be the same as thier feature film DVDs....likewise for BEI!

Finally, some definitive news from BEI. All are good titles that I had been waiting for.

Just one spoiler. I already have Tip Top version of Shahenshah. It's not such a great transfer. It's interlaced; not the usual BEI Progressive stuff. Sunny mentioned, it's same transfer as Tip Top. That's a big disappoiontment. I'm willing to wait a lot longer, if any chance of a usual BEI quality Progressive transfer.

Also, Junglee songs in BEI songs DVD were Field Averaged Interlaced. I hope, Junglee DVD will not be same encoding as Junglee songs in BEI songs DVD. We want the usual BEI Progressive transfer.

What will it take (Advance orders/ investments) to convince BEI that SHAHENSHAH DVD deserves a BEI standard Progressive transfer, if not any better. Shahenshah was a hit film with hit music.

All AB classics in BEI catalog are Progressive. Why spoil the collection with an interlaced transfer, and that too for one of the better films in AB collection??

Since everyone who wanted Shahenshah got the tip-top version it would be very hard from a business standpoint to spend thousands of dollars for a brand new transfer to only sell a handful of the product!!! The Indian DVD market is not like the Hollywood one....sadly

I'm looking forward to Ghulami, Sadma & Sohni Mahiwal from that list only...

Still waiting for Naseeb, Satte Pe Satta, Mahaan & Sholay from BEI.

Professor? Good. Looked into the Shemaroo version a friend
brought: DNR and MPEG blocking from hell! Was that an old
Shemaroo title? If the new ones are like this, no thanks.
Hope the BEI is much better.

DEI/ BEI has released many DVDs with new transfers when a DVD already existed in the market. Shahenshah being one of the better films and the existing DVD (Tip Top) a crap, BEI should reconsider using the same old crap transfer from Tip Top. Specially, when all other DEI/ BEI DVDs in AB collection are good transfers.

If they don't expect enough sales now, they should hold off releasing Shahenshah, until there is enough demand. Why spoil the AB collection?? By releasing BEI Shahenshah many more will buy the DVD, asssuming good quality, and the demand for future good quality release will diminish further.

thousands may be correct, but I think, it's the minimum amount in thousands. That is, $ 2000.

I wish, I was in DVD sales business. The best I can do is pre-order 10 - 15 DVDs @ $ 10 each for myself and friends/ relatives. Provided it's old DEI-EROS standard progressive transfer or better and is not on a Time Limited Media.

If there are 10 similar pre-orders ($100 x 10 = $ 1000), from quality concious customers like me, would it make any difference??

I too would like BEI to redo the transfer, but the difference between a BEI transfer and the Tip Top version of Shahenshah wouldn't be quite as drastic as the difference between Apollo or Baba and BEI.

One thing I don't understand - if the transfer is the same as the TTV version, what's the point in re-releasing it? Why are BEI bothering?

I've seen TTV Shahenshah in stores here in the US, but I think "officially" it was to be released only in the UK.
