This may only appeal to those in the UK but anyone remember a show called Spitting Image. It had puppets and used to take the piss out of EVERYTHING

Yeah, I actually recall that show. It was funny at first but good god did the joke run thin in a hurry. The puppets were caricatures of politicians, celebrities and other well known world figures. At first it was amusing and sometimes clever social and political satire, but as it wore on the characterizations turned into caricatures themselves. "OMG OMG, I'm Regan, I'm so old and forgetful LOLOLOL". If it hadn't run so long, or maybe kept itself to specials or lower episode counts after the first year they would have been better off. I guess it's hard to come up with that much material, because they ran out after about two years. :DD:

I might rent a best of DVD just to check it out, but I can't see comitting money to it unless it was a seriously cheap disc. I know Manga released a best of PAL VHS in the UK awhile back and I think it's still available. It was fairly cheap too as I recall.

Yeah. It comes on Granada Plus right now but they've basically butchered alot of the episodes. Dunno why.

Thats why I'm wanting them to release the ENTIRE Series on dVD.

Dunno how to make this happen though

Well, the problem is that the series ran a very long time (84-96) and had a relatively high episode count so any DVD release would be a lot of discs and therefor have a pretty high cost. I'd rate interest in the series as marginal at best (especially with how bad it got in 94-96). Maybe nostalga is kicking in for people for the early days of the show by now, but this is honestly the first time I've seen anyone mention this series in as long as I can remember. I suppose you could contact Spitting Image Productions [UK] who produced the series and see if anyone owns the DVD rights or if they've even considered a release. Apart from that I don't know what you could do to spur them on, maybe start one of those online petitions and post around on UK TV messageboards and the like where you could find fans of the series who'd want to sign up.

The fact that there are only two sites on the 'net for it and one of them is broken doesn't bode well for your chances ???, but I guess it's worth a shot. With some of the oddball things we've seen come out on DVD over the past few years maybe SI's turn is coming up. :oh:

Yeah. I think Carlton TV own the rights now. But I dunno how to Contact them.

I suppose they'd release it as a double disc and choose a theme like First release 1984-86, Second 1987-90, Third 1991-1993 and lastly 1994-1996. I'd be willing to buy it at a resonable price. They YOUNG ONES Series one DVD is being released for 12.99 which aint bad.

But I think this would do well if released on DVD especially the early eighties ones. Including classic songs like South Africa and the Chicken Song and Land of Confusion.

What do y'all think?
