Is there any software abvailable to add English subtitles to Hindi movies.Would it work on both dvds and VCDs

There's lots of free software available. If you have to create the subs first, programs such as Aegisub, Sub Station Alpha, and Subtitle Workshop, among others, are available. If you already have subs downloaded from somewhere or have created them yourself then they can be added to the DVD movie following this guide (Method 2 is the better one):

The programs needed are also available at that same site, in the 'Tools' section. That will allow them to be selectable, as in normal DVDs. For VCDs, because they don't support selectable subtitles, they'll have to be 'burned' or 'hard-coded' into the video, which requires reencoding. However, VCD MPEG-1 video is allowed for DVD so, theoretically, you could make a DVD from it with selectable subs. The audio will have to be converted from VCD's 44.1kHz to DVD's 48 kHz. There more work involved there.

Looks like this is lots and ots of work..I do not think I can handle this.However I may need to find a buddy close by who can help me.Seems like it will be fun.
