I have the Eros version of Shalimar (1978) but the sound is absolutely terribe, hardly audible - the worst I have ever came across! Strangely, the movie's main appeal is the music (sound) which eros has totally messed up!

The picture quality is acceptable, its cinemescope (sorry I can't get any more technical!)

I am considering getting the Baba version of this dvd, to see if it could be even worse... sado-masochisitic tendencies.... :)

If only you had seen the channel 4 (UK) version of Khushboo - It was perfect! But I managed to erase that video somehow, and got Eros's dvd this week. As you say, it could be worse, I just wish they would do cleaner transfers.

The BABA version sucks big-time. It heavily cropped to 4:3 aspect ratio and it looks like a direct from VHS print.

It is Shalimar! Thats John Saxon and Rex Harrison on the cover. John Saxon what a waste in this movie, not a single line uttered by him! I have The BTE version and it sucks big time! Garbage! 1oth generation VHS copy! Wonder if this version is any better! :?:

Yes, this is Shalimar - but in ENGLISH -- this movie was dubbed separately in English and Hindi.

One of my favourite movies of all time -- it would be good to see the English version for two reasons:
1. Hollywood actors speaking in their own voices (Rex's voice was dubbed by Kader Khan in the Hindi edition.)
2. 3-D effects introduced by the DVD author/distributor

Other than the "Razor Digital Entertainment" edition shown above, one more ENGLISH edition, from Trinity Home Ent, is available - see images below:

both look bad in full screen, the eros hindi one is in OAR. Dharmendra had an English tutor to speak in the English one, but his voice was dubbed by someone else even though he mouthed English. All others (zeenat, Shammi) spoke English in their own voices. About an hour is cut from English one compared to Hindi.
