Carlotta version is a 2 disc release, no english subtitles though. You can get it from Amazon.fr

new dvd from REM

I know this is a new dvd from REM. I was responding to sengh_15 and mhafner's comments on the PQ. Even though Carlotta split the movie across 2 dual layer DVDs, the PQ is not stellar as compared to what REM is offering on a single disc.

Aside from bitrate differences, the Carlotta and REM transfers are identical - they're both from the same digibeta.

I am curious about the audio though. REM states it to be DD 2.0 and Carlotta is DD Mono.

ERO$ rights on this film has now ceased. Carlotta and REM dvd versions shouldn't be in retail stores as they were licensed from ERO$. Its the reason why they used the same digibeta, made from a 35mm positive!!!!

Word from the grapevine is that the Sholay DVD and blu-ray rights are being negotiated with an Indian distribution company.

Do you mean to say this regarding the screens from a few posts above, or is there a NEWER version?

Anyone know where I can buy the Carlotta version online? Is it JUST a 2 disc release or 3DVD9? Thanks...

I wrote that when I was merging the older thread on Sholay DVDs with the new one started by Jola on the REM DVD.

Can anyone comment on the video/audio quality of the Thai PAL DVD version of SHOLAY which was released this year?

It's up for sale at http://www.ethaicd.com/show.php?pid=37156.

It's listed as Full Screen, Hindi 2.0, and English subtitles.

I foolishly bought this DVD a while ago, only to discover that it is not actually PAL or even a different DVD. It's simply a straight copy of the current Eros disc with a Thai dubbed track added on.

what's the name of the dvd distributor? thx.

From what I understand Pritish Nandy Communications got the rights to remake Sholay. The Sholay 'franchise' is still owned by Sippy's 'Sholay Media and Entertainment'.

Finally, the official Sholay topic!

All the 100 odd DVD releated threads in General have all been merged. The first post is an index of the thread.

This is now the only thread in General of Sholay
