Funnily enough, Eros do own a much better print of this film - they use it for all of their song DVDs. And yet, even when they recently re-released the movie on DVD, they used this same lousy print. :roll:

:roll:

I noticed the same about Dost (1975). Brillant film, print brillant on the song DVDs.

But film DVD, lousy print :?

Perhaps they don't want to spoil this good habit of people (of watching movie in a shitty print and still loving it) by feeding them with good prints.

Comparison screenshots from the copy I recorded off Set Max - not sure why, but I can't get the screenshots the same size (feel free to do the honours mods!!) Anyway - I think you'll get the picture (pun not intended).

Going slightly off topic - I've been recording two films on to a DVD-R when the source is TV - will there be a noticable difference if I do one film per DVD-R, or should I just carry on being a typical desi and saving on discs?!?!

You're recording at half DVD resolution about 352x288 (more VCD res than DVD). All depends on how the source broadcast is if you'll see any improvements in quality when recording full-res on DVD-r. On some cable boxes you can directly get the mpeg2 stream to your computer for recording - but it also shows how low the bit rate is on these Asian channels;

really dont see the point of archiving movies off TV to be quite honest.. theyre plagued with adverts and like ali has said the bitrate is a bit shite.. but the biggest gripe i have is the bastards chop and cut the whole movie..

There is another thread for this film that has only one post with SS from EROS-B4U but, it doesn't work. So, may delete that thread.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4361&p=41459&hilit=+yaadon#p41459

I guess, EROS-B4U & EROS (this) SS from this film are the same ?? Both prints are crap (I have the EROS-B4U version).

Yesterday I caught the tail end of this film on TV (NTSC). It was a much better print. Difference was bet day & night. Although it was a PAL to NTSC converted field averaged, still it was way better. It must have been one of those Zeecinema PAL newer telecine that was converted to NTSC ??
Did anyone in UK record it on DVD ??
