WOW! Finally a Progressive or almost Progressive DVD from Shemaroo.

I think it's the first Progressive or an almost Progressive DVD from Shemaroo. It's anamorphic as well.

It's a 30 fps (Film to NTSC), every fourth frame repeated (exact repeat) and gives no combing in 'Force Weave' setting.

Combing, stutter, it's all rubbish. In the days of 1080p24 Blu Ray Shemaroo is still fiddling with getting progressive SD right? Unbelievable.

I posted as I found it mention worth that Shemaroo has come out with their first Progressively encoded DVD. Sure, it's not perfect but I prefer even this kind of Prog DVD as compared to Field Averaged encoding and Pseudo Prog, with imperfect field repeat, encoding that Shemaroo has given us so far.

(BTW, I have avoided using the term 'Stutter' in zulm forums, so far, to avoid complication/ confusion.) Don't we get same stutter from any 24P encoding seen using a 60Hz refresh rate and/ or 60 Hz monitor ?? 72 Hz capability, to avoid stutter from 24P material, is not available except for very high end systems. I'm not sure what happens if you set refresh rate @ 72 Hz (for a 24P material) on PC and PC monitor is 60 Hz ?? I guess stutter gets worst ??

The only correct way to do progressive DVD with film source is to store 24fps and let the player either output 24 fps (progressive player) or a correct 2:3 pulldown (which is reversible to 24fps in display). Anything else for normal film sources is rubbish (that includes the 25fps PAL we have been served for decades). I boycot PAL versions since I refuse to watch films faster than they were shot (or averaged). PAL is flawed by design for film. Thank God with 24fps HD we have a world standard that does justice to most film sources. 25fps HD I will boycott as well for film sources.

Yup! But some times a flawed but right done technology is better than the rest of the crap we are being subjected, from right and left, with most non sensical cropping plague! :(
