I'd recommend this film. Wonderful performances, a sensitive narrative and nicely subtle imagary. Haven't read Monica Ali's book so can't compare there, but on its own as a film it stands very tall indeed I reckon. Better than any Deepa Mehta movie. ;)

Interesting. Thanks for the shots, Stephen. Hopefully the video store from which I rent region 2 DVDs has this one.
