Prasad authored the dvd. Full screen on the same disc? It's waste of space.

After watching Meenaxi on my sony widescreen tv last night, I happen to watch a song from the Meenaxi DVD on my 4:3 TV. I was surprised that the DVD was authored with both 4:3 and 16:9 video. For those people who don't have widescreen tvs, they will enjoy being able to watch Meenaxi in full screen with out black bars on a 4:3 TV.

What do you mean it has both 4:3 and 16:9? Does this DVD have the flag where if you set your DVD player to "4:3 pan and scan" it crops it?

I don't have a widescreen TV and I enjoyed Meenaxi very much. Widescreen zindabad! :D

There must be a flag set on the DVD because my Samsung DVD player is set to widescreen mode for display output. However when the Meenaxi DVD got to the menu it displayed in full screen on my 4:3 TV so did the entire movie.

If you have a 4:3 TV, set your DVD player to "4:3 Widescreen" or "4:3 Letterbox" or the equivalent to get the proper aspect ratio.

Meenaxi: Tale Of 3 Cities - dts edition - Sony Music Digital Home Entertainment (India)
Released in June 2004, this is probably the first Indian Bollywood dvd to feature dts.

Author/Mods - can you change the topic title to
Meenaxi YRF DVD [SS pg.3] & Sony Music DVD with dts [SS pg.6]
while I post some shots :-)

It was all worth the trouble of opening that special almirah of yours

How is DTS sound compared to DD 5.1 of YRF dvd?

and is it same Parsad transfer?

I loved this film! and did understand too  It was better looking than Paheli imho!

Plus look at the rough edges -- the black borders -- this looks totally uncropped :)

Can't say if the video is the same as YRF/Prasad -- the case mentions the disc as manufactured and distributed by Sony Music -- no mention of Prasad.

The dts is very nice -- how it compares to YRF dolby -- don't know cause i do not have the yrf edition.

This transfer is indeed the exact same video used by the YRF DVD.

The DTS track should give this release the edge though.
