got me copy delivered from bensonsworld for £11.99

watched the entire film and extras. the film does look accurate in colours to the cinema version i saw many promos on TV depict different colours, more brighter especially the reds but i agree with ali when he sez the dvd looks natural but many who watched it with me said it looked darker and duller than the cinema. extras are good and worth watching not the samey promos stuff you normally see from yrf and eros! esp the big fight one which just talks about the battle scenes in the film. special mention for the menu design .. simple, very effective and one of the best ive seen! all the chapter stops show a different picture form the movie and songs selection describes the music composer and artist! very impressed. ive not been others dvds by metrodome but this for their first indian film dvd is brilliant work! i just hope they do more in the future, actually hope people write to them asking for more indian films

Yes and Yes to answer both your questions. This Metrodome Asoka DVD is the uncut version with all the songs present and it is Region 2, therefore as compatible as it gets with UK dvd players.

No! The movie was under 3 hours. The actual running time of the film released in India was 176 min (2 hrs 56 min). As for the Metrodome DVD, the running time is not 1 hr 69 min but rather it is '169 min' which is 2 hrs 49 min. The disreprancy of a few minutes between the Metrodome Region 2 PAL DVD and the theatrical release running time is the slightly (approx 3.96%) faster speed of PAL. Therefore the Metrodome DVD of Asoka is the complete Indian release version of Asoka, including all songs.

Man, you Brits get all the breaks. You got a packed DVD of "East is East" while R1 just got a trailer on the disc. You get "Asoka" earlier than we do (it comes out here in March, supposedly without songs), and you will probably get a good DVD of "The Terrorist" while we get the Fox Lorber/Winstar version, which is crap! Not to mention that you guys get the DEI mastered "Fiza," while we're stuck with the Video Sound version. What's next, "Lagaan SE"?!?

:baaa:

I have to admit that the presentation for the disk is excellent compared to the shit we get from the Indian DVD companies.

The songs are nicely layed out so that you can program them
The chapters plentyful
nicely presented extra's

A nice package, if all DVDs were like this than people wouldn't hassitate to buy more DVDs.

Just noticed on Indian Blockbuster that they have Asoka listed as a New Arrival (Just Arrived) and they are selling it for $21.99. I figured it must be the Metrodome Region2 PAL Dvd, but even then out of curiosity I clicked on the link. Guess what, they claim the DVD is released by SONY. Anyone have any idea about this and if so which Sony is this? Sony as in Columbia or just some Sony Mony that Indian Blockbuster invented.

To add to the mystery above, I just found Asoka listed on the Super Digital online store as being released on February 02. The price advertised is $24.99 but they say nothing about who is releasing the DVD. Strange!
