Hey Zulmis,

Anyone have a clue as to when the Hindustani DVD by Spark was released, I thought it was released by DML in Hindi. How's the sound on the DVD , true 5.1 . I would like to buy the DVD but only for the soundtrack. Any info appreciated.
Thanks,
Haroon.

I've seen a few discs with DD2.1 audio. ".1" means, they gave full/ some bass in that ".1" channel.

I remember watching Sahib in theatre. Mono movie, but thundering bass.

I saw the Ayngaran dvd of INDIAN. The songs were mixed well and does sound really impressive in DD 5.1. But the movie sound effects were bad, they sounded mono-ish. The print was full dirt and lines. Opening credits and the endin credits were in OAR, rest of the movie was cropped 1.85.
Shanker's signature style of cheesy special effects were aplenty in this one, the song were kamal hassan turns into different animals were pretty bad. The movie itself had a good premise and would've been interesting if it was done with something Shanker never heard of, subtlety and less melodrama.

Many sound effects, particularly the dishum-dishum in fight scenes, sound like they are from the mono era.

Maya Machindra? Yeah, that was dumb. But I thought those cheesy blue-screen SFX in that song with Urmila were even worse. Looked like some 80s music video.

And when old Kamal and "young" Kamal are in the same shot, you can often see a blue reflection on one of them.

If it matters, I personally can confirm that Hindustani (Hindi version) was definately in DTS and it was also the first Hindi (dubbed or non dubbed) release with DTS. How do I know? I watched the film in DTS myself.

I noticed this too. To me it looks like some of the SFX were shot on video. I thought they perfected the whole double role special effect in the 70's :D . The new style shooting using motion control camera seen in 'Abhay' was much better, as it doesn't restrict the camera to move around double role characters.

Shemaroo it seems are going through the pains to get the colors right! :D

Would have been nice if BEI did this one and have the shots posted along side these. It would be a clash of the Titans in authoring and Shangri la for us. :D
