Yes it was hear say, but was reliable as verified by Arsh's post above.

Mr Wakeel Saab hearsay is not admissable in these parts! :P Should I commit a grave crime, I must remember to make a mental note to stay the hell away from you to avoid the gallows! :P

MEENAXI DISC is a BIT more YELLOWER than KMG( that I thought was REALLY BAD) so, If KMG is X%, in ur eyes! add 5-10% more (subjective), and There u go, u got Y% meenaxi!! LOL..

A decent transfer and marginally decent media! Hmmm....Looks like I have to take Yashraj off my shit list for the moment! :P

I don't buy 2-in-1s. Besides, if a DVD is decent quality I don't mind paying for it.

Are you saying that 2 in 1 dvds are not decent quality?

Over compressed. Five to six hours on 2 layers is not my cup of tea.

Up to 5 pages and not much mention of the audio on the DVD apart for saying its DD – so how is it? Is this the normal ‘remastered’ 5.1 DD you get on old YRF DVDs or a proper one?

7/10 for video :P

Ali

It would appear that you have an avoidance conflict .All I ask is if the 2 in 1 dvds are decent quality or what is your definition of "decent quality" .Has nothing to do with your preference.

The most that can usually be fit onto 2 layers is about 3 hours, maybe 3 and a half if the compressionist wants to push it. Five hours and six hours on one DVD results in either pixellation or filtering of detail to try to prevent some pixellation. Either way it is not a pretty picture (pardon the pun). I've seen a few 2-in-1s out of curiousity, and I've also seen a Vision DVD with about 6 hours of songs taken from the originals, and the quality is bad. They might look okay on smaller TVs, but I don't like to watch them.

Thnx Ali, for ur kind rating of 7/10.. I dont mind, and I agree!! KHNH etc, should be 4-5/10..I never claimed it was SUPERB, it is MARGINALLY GOOD STEP in RIGHT DIRECTION, no way close to KKKG and I would PREFER DTPH anamorphic over this too!!

Any ways, It does have PROPER DD 5.1 mix, and SOUND IS GENERALLY VERY GOOD!! There are few surrounds too, but LIMITED!
Thnx

Well you can tell from my post whether or not I think they are decent or not decent. For me, not decent, but for a person with a smaller TV they might be considered decent.

I do have a 57" widescreen TV and the 2 in 1 dvds are decent to my eyes; even though they cannot be compared to Ye Dil Aashiqana dvd.
But by contrast with Umrao Jaan-What more can I say?

monizam, what's your viewing distance? 25 feet?

i thought the surround use was good on Meenaxi. it is indeed a proper 5.1 mix. the only weak part of the dvd is the lack of detail, but it is miles ahead of KHNH or any other Prasad-YRJ production.

beautiful movie, and i have hope that i'll understand most of it...perhaps after 3 more viewings?

The video quality is good, though it could be more detailed. The lack of detail is noticeable even in closeups.

I enjoyed the movie very much. It was a bit disjointed, but that contributed to the dreamlike quality of the film. Interesting story idea and gorgeous cinematography. I guess it took someone outside the industry to make a good film!

The 25 minute extra is an interview with Owais Hussain with on-set footage and some film clips interspersed.
