Heyy peeps, I'm back for those that remember me! Long story if anyone wants to hear it.

Anyway I saw this flick at a college screening yesterday, NO SUBS, and I barely know tamil being a mallu; only enough to understand the situation. Prints with subs cost more I guess. I liked the fight sequences. I also liked some of the scenes(ie school girl, boy thief). The dialogues seemed subtle but well directed.

I asked people what was meant by "Kakka Kakka" ! It seems to be referring to the "khakhi anbuselvan says that was washed off his uniform when he got beat up" Does anyone know? It's definitely not crows!!

Hi Guys
Khaaka... Khaaka...means Protecting...Protecting (or to protect...to protect)

If you guys liked this movie, you should also watch Saamy with Vikram in the lead. Saamy is also a very good film and the biggest money maker in Tamil in 2003. More than 125 DAYS ON SCREEN IT SEEMS!!
The story is about a police officer and his methods to overcome the villains, good performances from the actors and Hari (from "Thamil" which is also an excellent movie) has done a brilliant job directing.
The DVD is out from Tamilini. PQ & Sound is Ayngaran standard.

"Kaakaa" is crow in Tamil also. "Kaaka" (kaak-uh) is to protect, like Dredd said. I think it also means to wait.

Sunny, have you seen the disc 2 supplements? Are they any good?

The Making Of is not bad, there are no horrible voice over's or VJ's just raw camcorder footage showing you how certain scenes was shot, and then comparing it with the final edit cuts in the main feature.

The Trailers are pretty cool, and so are the deleated scenes.

Then the interview section is your EPK feature with the director, and actor talking about the film.

But the best feature is the audio commentary. Here the director talks about the film and how he approched it. There are some gaps (the odd min) but these aren't as frequent as many DVDs in the market.

I can now reveal that this DVD is Ayngaran's first PROGRESSIVE DVD!!! and none of that pesedo crap that EROS and Shemeroo pull out....proper 24fps!!!

Ayngaran admit that they still need to work a bit more, but rest assured that they are on thier way to match the likes of BEI...very soon!!!

Saamy was a cool film, one of the better Indian commercial cinema films of 2003. But it could have been much better had there been less of that "Me Superstar" mode that seems to be in all Tamil films of late...

The DVD is cool and has French, English and Telugu subtitles.
But I love the DTS track :)

Great news! I can't wait to see the final DVD. Maybe Tamilini will follow suit?

Have they improved their subtitling? Their subtitles are often phrased oddly and include grammatical errors.

Hell Yeah! This puts EROS and other violators in even more shame!!! Small regional films get the treatment even the internationally overhyped magnum opus didn't get it! Way to go Ayngaran
