Shiv Sena demands ban on Kaante
Party's Jaipur unit threatens demonstrations


The Shiv Sena's Jaipur unit has urged the Government of India to ban Bollywood multi-starrer Kaante. They allege its makers drew funds from the underworld to produce the film.

In a memorandum sent to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the Shiv Sena's Jaipur unit warned it would launch an agitation in Jaipur, burn the film's posters and hold demonstrations at theatres screening the movie, local Sena leader Nanak Ram Thavani said.

Kaante, directed by Sanjay Gupta and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Kumar Gaurav, Mahesh Manjrekar and Lucky Ali, is set for a countrywide release on December 20.

What makes this threat bizarre is the fact that Kaante's national producer is Pritish Nandy, a Shiv Sena member of the Rajya Sabha!

THIS IS NO SUPRISE BUT KAANTE IS NO DIFFERENT IN NOT BEING PIRATED AND BOY IT IS THE WORST PIRATED DVD EVER WELL ONE OF THEM ANY WAY. RENTED IT AFTER SHOPKEEPER. SAID IT WAS A "GOOD PRINT". AFTER DISAPPIONTNG MAYBE A GOOD EFFORT MENU TO FOOL PEOPLE MONO SOUND SPREAD TO ALL 5.1 CHANNELS AND CHEEKILY GIVING YOU OPTION OF DOLBY DIGITAL 2 0R 5.1 THE PICTURE WAS AMAZINGLY SO BAD I JUST TOOK THE DVD OUT OR SHOULD I SAY Videovhscd BACK AND GOT A VHS TAPE INSTEAD WHICH WAS PROBALY COPIED OF DVD OR VICEVERSA
SO BEWARE EROS LABEL AND USAUAL 5.1 SOUND ALL BELL AND WHISTLE ON THE COVER BUT NOTHING AS IT SAYS ON THE TIN

So has the actual DVD for Kaante released yet or are pirates still the only ones in circulation?

Nope. The Original is not yet out. They are even running ads in US saying that the authorized version is not out and beware of the pirates.

The Original is not out yet. If you have not seen the movie don't bother with the DVD of Kaante that is out there. They are pirated and have the worst quality video and sound. Might as well wait for the right thing and hopefully and eventually it will show up...

I have seen the bootleg copy
and it has no subtitles
and the sound sucks

There is an original version released by T-Series intended for India which is floating around overseas but since the quality of this DVD is absolutely pathetic with commercial breaks in the middle of the film to add to the pain, I would suggest everyone stay as far away from it as possible. Actually even the pirated is also I am sure by far better than the T-Series crap.
