What was Jhamu Sugand's capacity on Lagaan? He "presents" it, whatever that means. Executive producer? Somehow I doubt that Lagaan will go to Eros, though.

Fear Not Dragun... Lagaan is with Aamir Khan productions... and unless EROS pays a really filthy sum to Aamir Khan, I dont think they will ever own that title. CTHV owns the rights for that film and thats how it will stay !

But don't really care about the awful dubbed version as the original "Indian" is out on DVD and I'm happy with the quality. I know Ayngaran will release an OAR anamorphic version really soon on DVD

For the kind attention of Bhaskar :)

Even though someone is happy with an "interlaced" product, the mere fact that it is gonna be released "progressively" cheers him up, speaks volumes abt the quality of "interlaced" products....

Though I wonder, since when did Sunny Audit switch over to Progressively encoded DVDs :D

BTW sunny Its April 2003... whats cooking @ Ayngaran ?

For the kind attention of SKNath.......grow up.

:D always helps to know that someone is "parenting" me..

A couple of things Mr Nath. I wouldn't even dream of trying to 'parent' someone who is as much a pain in the ass as you are.

Secondly, I suggest you read posts before quoting them - Sunny has mentioned that he's looking forward to an original aspect ratio anamorphic version of Indian - no mention of progressive anywhere.

Finally, although there is not need to repeat myself, I will do so especially for you (I understand from your posts that you find it hard to comprehend what I'm saying.) I know that progressive DVDs can give better picture quality than interlaced - but that is not necessarily the case. If a DVD is pan and scan with washed out colours but progressive, it doesnt mean it is a good DVD. Similarly, DVDs such as the Ayngaran DVDs are not bad DVDs just because they are interlaced. I know that DEi/BEI DVDs are the best quality we are likely to get, and I have bought some DEI DVDs just for the quality (crap movies like Jigar). But I don't think a change to progressive transfers is all that companies like Eros and YRF need - they need to review a lot of their transferring process.

If Hindustani was DTS then that would make it the first ever Hindi film to have DTS 6 channel sound and not Judwaa, as Hindustani came out in June 19 1996 and Judwaa came out a year later in Feb 19 1997.

Hindustani was definitely in 5.1 Channel DTS along with Bharatyaveedu (Telugu) and Indian (Tamil). Judwaa was the first Hindi film that was originally shot in Hindi (as opposed to dubbed) to be in DTS 5.1.

The following excerpt is from Real-Image's site, the company which promotes DTS in India:

http://www.real-image.com/dts/010002.asp

The trailer of Indian (Hindustani in Hindi) was played at Metro for the benefit of owners of other theaters where this film was to be released in Hindi. Many orders were received for DTS right away. The enlightened distributors for the film in Bombay, Shringar Films, financed many a DTS unit at that time.
The first original Hindi film with DTS sound was Judwaa produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

Actually there were a lot of Hindi films planned to be in DTS but some projects took so long to be released like Pukar that was released in 2000.

What's up with you guys? I mean what's the big deal that Hindustani is in DTS 5.1? There won't be a Hindustani DTS dvd, anyway...I rather have a Jungle or Road or even Company on DVD in DTS.

One seriously silly movie. And Kamal Hassan managed to look like an idiot in the film. Does anyone remember the terrible cheesy computer graphics? I swear I could have done better CGI effects on my home computer!
