Note -- The first few copies of 2-disc dts came out with a printed novel in english of parineeta.... a true collector's edition... later the novel was withdrawn... and finally now there's no dts either....

Looks pretty good. How does it compare to the UTV version? Better, worse, same?

That can be
1.) For the obvious reason that its a NTSC release (i.e., a repackaged version of the UTV transfer, with the DTS as the additional bonus), or

2.) Due to a brand new PAL transfer (which would be equally good..) Someone has to make a close comparison of the running time of both versions.

Excel is NTSC... and may not be the same transfer as UTV...

note that images are scaled down to fit your computer screen.

these images are actually scaled UP, if indeed it is NTSC - it should be no larger than 720*480(?) or was that 702 * 234

Except "Khamosh Pani" where they failed, EXCEL have done a fantastic job of DVDs in India... their Hollywood DVDs are as good as those released in the U.S.
I saw the new lot of Khamosh Pani -- Excel seem to have made amends in correctly labeling... they now correctly say 4:3 Punjabi Dolby Digital 2.0 on the case...

The Excel two-disc dts edition comes in an amaray case available inside a cardboard slipcase with an extra flap and with nice golden tone...

and one of the rarest hindi-movie DVDs with HINDI subtitles in addition to bengali, tamil, telegu, malayalam, kannada, arabic, gujarati, french, spanish, dutch, german, malay, italian

is there any way to 100% recognize on PC-based players such as windvd, powerdvd whether the dts is 5.0 or 5.1? I am getting varying results...
