Is there anyone who bought Dil Chahtah Hai dvd at Indiaweekly at US 13.99. If so, is it Spark version? Online details of the dvd is Spark but the photo is Soven. Please give me info because I am looking to buy this dvd.

I got mine some 2 mnths back from IW. Yes it was the Spark 2 disc version. Somewhere it was mentioned that due to problems encountered with the American version, only the UK (Spark) version is in circulation now. I had no problem playing it.

I put in my dvd today and was a bit shocked when the picture broke up/froze almost half way thru the movie. After further examining the disc I realised that there was a ring of a different colour to the colour on the outter area of the disc than the centre. I was shocked as you can imagine especially as I paid the seemingly pricely sum of £16.99 for it from the king of extortion himself (no names :D ) Anyway i was pretty appalled as i didnt expect this from spark. Videosound are known for having crappy media so it can be expected from them but not spark. Anyway I hope this is a one off thing and all your discs are ok.

I wanna buy a replacement, but only if i know the disc aint gonna die on me again after 4 viewings.

Same problem here. Watched a couple of times late last year, popped it again after a few months later, and the picture broke up every few chapters. This is ridiculous.

It happened to my copy as well. I emailed Spark about a replacement, but they haven't replied. One theory I've heard is that somehow air got trapped between the two layers and caused the rotting. Again, it's just a theory. Has this happened with other Spark DVDs on the scale it has with DCH?

The recent one that i had the problem with was the comedy dvd "hasna chappar phaadke" by video sound. it keeps freezing up & pauses for a while before it plays again. it only happened after i watched it for about 3 or 4 times. it was fine before that.

Mine was the 2 disc set. It does not state where it was made but it does have a UK address on the back.

Khiladi- Videosound use cheap quality media and have always been known to do this. I myself have 3-4 f*cked up discs from them. My advice is to stop buying their discs altogether.
I didnt expect dil chahta hai to f*ck up cos they are supposed to be very good.
Disc rot happened with most if not all UK Terminator SE dvds. MGM acknowledged the problems and replaced all affected disc. Spark is and Indian (Kanjoos) company so I wouldnt expect them to offer any sort of replacement

What players do you guys have?
I have a Pioneer 525 and never had this problem, with a colection of more than 3000 dvds (about 200 indian). Not a dvd rot, nor any dvd freezing, skipping.
But I also have a Samsung 709 and a Sony S525D, and yes they skip, they freeze, but only because their shitty lens system.

Samsung 709 is world famous for being a dvd player with only 9 months of regular use. After that, you could see how your favourite dvds skip chapters & frames and freeze in some parts. The same with the Sony and other dvd players from Phillips or LG. I'm sure there are a lot of garbage brands out there.

Before you start your fury against dvd companies think about your player. I have a dvd store in Spain, and a lot of people came with this problem, but playing dvds in my Pioneer (and other brands using good technology) means NO PROBLEMS, NEVER. The disc they state as deffective play ok in a lot of other brands. It's so curious how 90 % of people with problems have a Samsung player.

DVD have no autodestruction date. This is not real. I have a friend on a dvd manufacturing company and they have never seen anything like what you say.

And dvd silver or gold have NO SIGNIFICANCE in the play of the disc, or mean quality of duplication, as some of you believe.
