WEll, now when SC have been posted!

I must add: Meenaxi, is indeed PROG encoded DVD!!

If MF HUSSAIN is INVOLVED, izzy, where was he damn sleeping when GAJA GAMINI was being SCREWED UP!

BTW! Meenaxi, is not THE BEST/PERFECT dvd out there, But indeed is way better than what YRF had been CHURNING OUT!Since long time, in the name of COLLECTOR EDITIONS..naming MYKSH/MDK..on the bottom of the crap, to SAATHIYA, KMG, KHNH etc etc..

It is a BOLD STEP by YRF in RIGHT DIRECTION..HOPEFULLY!

Again, It is not PERFECT, has EXCESSIVE NOISE in LOT OF SCENES, DOT CRWAL, and KINDA A BIT MUTED GRAIN!!

But, being short film, only 25 minutes, sp features and DD only..went in favour, most likely, relative to AYANGRAN/TELUGU DVDS!

**** I HOPE it is WAKE UP call for VISHAL, to get a GOOD DVD for MAQBOLL!!

Husain withdraws 'Meenaxi'

April 16, 2004 14:31 IST
Last Updated: April 16, 2004 17:27 IST

Artist-director M F Husain has pulled out his latest film Meenaxi: A Tale Of 3 Cities, from theatres all over India.

Husain was prompted to take this action following protests by some Muslim organisations who objected to one of the songs — Noorun-ala-Noor — in the film. Meenaxi stars Tabu, Raghuvir Yadav and Kunal Kapoor, and is set to music by A R Rahman.

The All-India Ulema Council yesterday demanded an immediate ban on the song, calling it 'blasphemous'. "The song, picturised on Tabu, contains words that are directly lifted from the text of the Quran. In the Quran, these words are used to define the persona of the Prophet. But in Husain's film they are being used to depict the physical beauty of the heroine."

The Ulema Council was supported by the Milli Council, the All-India Muslim Council, Raza Academy, Jamiat-ul-Ulema-e-Hind and Jamat-e-Islami, who claimed the song has hurt the sentiments of Muslims.

Husain, for his part, said, "I have told my distributor Yash Chopra to withdraw the film from public shows around the country immediately. Since I have not sold the film [which has been directed and produced by Husain] to anyone, including Chopra, I would like to stop the screening."

Husain added: "I did not make the film for money."

*** Catch Noorun-ala-Noor ..on DVD— in the film, one of the BEST choreopgraphed song imho!!

Sometimes I'm embarrassed to call myself a Muslim when others behave in such immature and idiotic ways. Sure, let's censor and burn everything artistic and creative because it's "blasphemous". Jeez, this is the stupidest thing I've read in a long time.

On a side note, now that MEENAXI is out, what's the word on MAQBOOL?

Don't be embarrased yaar, we hindus are no better about these things. Actually if you ask me it has nothing to do with our religion but rather with us Indians/Pakistanis/Bangladeshis. Has got to be some kind of defective genes in us.

It's more goldish than any of the recent Indian DVDs. Calling old time DEI DVDs 100% Gold, recent ones from 0 to 30% Gold, Meenaxi is 40-50% Gold.

JB!! TAKE NOTE!!!

MEENAXI DISC is a BIT more YELLOWER than KMG( that I thought was REALLY BAD) so, If KMG is X%, in ur eyes! add 5-10% more (subjective), and There u go, u got Y% meenaxi!! LOL..

For DRAGUN, If u ask me, even we pay $30 for a DVD, Hindi DVDS wont be GOLD! any more!

Yes it was hear say, but was reliable as verified by Arsh's post above.:D

I had no doubts about my hearsay.

Well, I tried to hint about a good DVD before its price got jacked up by good reports.:D

I don't buy 2-in-1s. Besides, if a DVD is decent quality I don't mind paying for it.
