Wow, we've reached a new low here. Let's personally attack people to make our points stronger.

Good job with all the non-points as well. Why not e-mail one of the actual foreign film academy members and ask?

good job continuing to insist that they're my non-points....

and btw, the low was reached when you, in your numerous arguments with me, attacked me first...:)

Good good, now how about showing me where I personally attacked you?

Oh, that's right, you can't.

As far as I know Monsoon Wedding was shot entirely in New Delhi. For it being shot in Italy is news to me. There was no point for it to be shot in Italy. Also it was shot in one month, so I doubt they had time to go to Italy.

That is absolutely correct and also the fact that the film was shot in one month leaving no time to travel to Italy and shoot there. More importantly there is not one reason why they would have shot in Italy. The listing of Italy on that site as one of the locales is in error which may have been due to the fact that if I remember correctly there was some Italian company involved in the finance of the film.

Sorry, I don't have enough information to answer that question... I haven't been paying attention to information about Invaders.

But that doesn't change the point that Monsoon Wedding is still an Indian film, thank you very much.

TWO things I wish to say:

1. I would rather incline to believe that THE INVADORS is an "International Project" -- whereby it has its set of facts to prove that it will a "Hollywood" production and also an "Indian" production. Something more on the same lines of Richard Attenborough's Gandhi.

2. Whomever thinks that the Golden Globes is "a joke" of awards is a joke themselves to begin with. In Hollywood, the Globes are considered the second most vital film awards ceremony right after the Academy Awards, and like Sanjay has pointed out earlier, the Academy is strongly induced by the decisions made at the Golden Globes.

they're a reasonable precursor for the oscars- but you couldn't say that the academy is induced by them...also, it still doesn't mean that they haven't given very *questionable* decisions in the past, and add to that their *selective voting process*....add them up and you get a _ _ _ _. (fill in the blanks yourself :;): )

I see where your getting at, and if we stand on the same eye-level(thus, to that extent), I agree. And much like Filmfare Awards, the Academy & Globes can be considered a joke since they all have never cared enough to reward the true prodigies.

About the status of the Globes-- they used to be considered a joke, yes, because so few voters are involved and because the night generally was more of an excuse to party hard and enjoy themselves, whereas the Oscars was the serious, be-on-your-best-behavior big-deal awards ceremony.

But in the 90s the Globes began to uncannily predict Oscar winners, and so they've earned a lot more respect now, not only because their results seem to predict Oscar winners, but also, by circular effect, they now also seem to influence Oscar voters.

On top of that, introduction of cameras has sobered up the crowd and helped lend a more "serious" air to the whole proceeding.

(By the way - IMHO, Monsoon Wedding is an Indian picture, but it's certainly not representative of Indian cinema; American Desi ISN'T an Indian picture; it's an Indian-American film, a very different thing altogether! And when people say that MW wasn't eligible for Oscars, they're probably referring tot he fact that it wasn't eligible once India decided to submit Lagaan instead. There's a lot of confusion abotu that process.)

Saw BILB today. Nice, feel good film. There were more people than expected for the noon show. It's doing very well and keeps on picking up.

The theatre was properly equipped too and hence got excellent audio with proper bass and directionality. Indian Wedding ion UK and hence lots of Bhangra songs/ clips; Rail Gaddi by Chirag Pehchaan including. I'm sure permissions had been obtained for all the songs/ clips. Proper credits were given.

BTW, 1.85:1 AR and no Heads chopped in BILB, as I have become accustomed to watching Indian DVDs.

BTW, also saw trailor of a Big Budget One Shot Feature Film.

It'll come from 20th Century Fox. They probably haven't even announced it yet because it's still doing decent business in theaters.

This is one film, you must catch in a decent theatre. I'm sure it's still running in theatres in Vancouver-Victoria. Excellent music, Colorful Wedding and Interesting Plot.
