Interlacing aside, Kabhi Kabhie looks and sounds like a Film->PAL->NTSC transfer.

I totally agree that YRF originals are way overpriced for the quality we get. But I look at it not only from a price standpoint but also from a quality standpoint. Sure, I could get 2 movies for $10-15, but the quality would be bad because of poor originals and even more compression. I would not want to watch such a DVD repeatedly, even for $5 a movie. I suppose I have an extreme point of view in that I would rather do without a lot of movies altogether than buy crappy DVDs, even at extremely low prices.

not even just for the ease of use when watching songs?

I did buy Kabhi Kabhie a few years ago, and I do sometimes watch the songs, but I had no idea the quality would have been that bad. If I had known, I most likely would not have bought it. I bought Shemaroo's Pakeezah disc because of the songs, but I found that for cheap, and it is rare that I like a movie's songs enough that I will buy a bad DVD to have them. I can't imagine watching a 2.5 hour movie more than once in its entirety while putting up with a ton of video problems, nor do I want to support with my dollars an incompetent company.

Just got the 'Raaz/Gunaah' 2 in 1 combo from pakwebstore and am VERY impressed by the quality. Bitrate shifts from 1.5 to 7 rather quickly, and its thus almost impossible to gather an average bitrate for this DVD. The Raaz rip is from the Tips version and the Gunaah rip is from WEG. Both have yellow English subtitles that are in sync with the picture. This is the way to go. The media used also looks sturdy and I am very pleased with this purchase. By the way, whoever does the artwork for these DVDs needs to be complimented as its so much more than your average cut and paste job.

the kabhi kabhi/silsila combo is probably worth it as not many of us want to pay $18.99 US for crappy yrf originals.

$18.99 US = approx. $28.5 CDN, which means you'd pay about $57 CDN for the originals.

i'd rather buy the 2 in 1, save $42 CDN and deal with a video quality which is less than the already crappy original.

I have it both movies have good prints & it's a Blu-Ray DVD but it plays on all dvd players also both the movies are subtitled & they have menus too

If it plays on ordinary DVD players, it's not a Blu-ray disc.
