HDTV doesn't or will not cost much more than what a standard TV cost was 2 yrs ago. Its just a matter of what is mass produced.

You must not be familiar with television pricing in India today. Just to give you an idea, a regualr Sony 27" Wega tv that costs around $450 in the US costs around $1000 in India. A non HDTV 60" rear projection tv which would cost around $2000 in the US costs around $6500 in India. As for Plasma tvs the cheapest ones available here are around $8000 for a 42" Plasma. Folks incase you have forgotten how much $8000 is in India, let me remind you, it is Rs 400,000/- which is more money than 95% of Indians will earn in 6-7 years, so when I say you won't see HDTV in India anytime soon (read that as atleast a couple of decades), I ain't kidding. People here in India are still buying their first colour tv. By the way I am not talking about a few people importing a few HDTV sets that they may use with their DVDs, but rather I am talkign about HDTV broadcasting. Another thing you should consider is that even Europe does not have HDTV yet and it is atleast 5 - 10 years away in most of Asia.
