Sknath and Bhaskar, what did you guys think every time someone used some Bengali word like shondesh or bondhu? :)

This is one of the things that irritated me the most about Devdas - the majority of the cast had very bad pronunciation. They're spending Rs 50 crores on an adaptation of a Bengali novel, and they can't even concentrate on trying to get the Bengali right?!?! :ffs:

What also irritates me is the success of Devdas, as to a certain extent, I think it misrepresented the Bengali culture. I feel Devdas summarised the Bengali culture as men wearing dhotis, and women wearing the red-bordered sarees. I've had people come up to me and say 'that's the way Bengalis used to live' to which my reply was.......well, I don't really think it's suitable to put on Zulm :p

Bhaskar nothing to deny there... Women folk in West Bengal actually did use to wear the "Laal-paar-er Saree" (the saree with a red border)... They even do that till this date...
But waht bothered me was the opulence which was displayed in the film... That is definately not a true "representation" of what was depicted in the novel... (even if it was adapted)
