The last 4 screenshots do NOT come from the same disc. Please remove them. It's from a bootleg.

Can someone PLEASE confirm something.

Apparently someone is claiming (these last 4 screenshots) that KMI, a company in France, is OFFICIALLY licensed to release YRF films in France under their label? When did this happen, that a specific country has a KMI DVD9 with region-ONLY subtitles (in this case for rab ne bana di jodi)?

I was checking a site where a guy has posted both DVD9's. The french DVD seems to be decrypted incorrectly as all the main .vob's for the movie are nearly 890MB EACH... Thus, I really can't say in a fair comparison. Those 4 screenshots I asked to be taken off come from the KMI disc.

The YRF DVD9 for ALL the time it took to release it, is NOT even progressive...I won't get my own discs for another 4 hours. 7am here and my store opens @ 11 to buy it. I'll let you know.

In the meantime, that guy has posted these screens from the YRF disc:

My verdict based SOLELY on the YRF screens... thumbs down.

The movie makes YRF a huge amount of money (per the website), and the DVD is not even progressive? On a side note glad my blu-ray player upscales regular DVDs. (useful feature for Indian DVDs)

The YRF DVD hands down is better than the pirated DVDs floating around (that is till the YRF DVD is re authored). 8)

These caps look far worse than the trailer on the Dostana disc, which I assume is where that first cap in the original post came from. I know it would be little consolation, but it is at least anamorphic. Interlacing isn't a huge deal for me right now since I don't have a digital display yet, but it is still pretty irritating. Can we get a photo of the packaging?

Just bought this dvd yesterday and fiished viwing it. My first reaction is that even though its non-progressive, still it is a dcent looking dvd for conventional TVs.

There are lot of places with minor pixelation in fast moving scenes (bad interlacing... just look at waving fields in the begining shot of Tujh mein Rab song). Anyway i was also dissappointed by the fact that even the main menu was heavily pixellated.

The color is slightly wrong primarily because of the 'blue' problem!!. I got this doubt right at the opening credits on golden temple where the early morning shots had a blue tinge but later into the movie, it was confirmed. Yes I am 101% sure that this tansfer has a blue tinge because i have seen the movie 5 times in theatres and (for eg.,) i very clerly remember that in the shopping mall scene whee Taani tries out a blue top, when u look in theatres it is actualy peacock green(with more on greener side) but in dvd it has changed to pure blue. of the 5 multiplexes that watched the film in, one was a digital projection and it also had the same blue problem. does it mean that every film changes color once tansferred digitally??. (I am not sure because Ghajini color was perfect on dvd and even that i had seen 3 times in theatre(non digital).)

Audio is perfect on dvd which is always the case with YRF dvds. they rarely get a dvd with audio wrong. Perfect surround sound with balanced frontal activity.

Of the extra features, i liked the 'unplugged SRK' interview which is basically unedited interview of what came in parts during making of the movie and making of songs. Not to mention the duration is 1 hour - a good treat for die hard srk fans.

Of the deleted scenes only one is good where Taani tells suri that she lied that she is unmarried to get into the dance competition. This justifies the final scene in the original film where the announcer calls her as Miss taani and she corrects him.

PS: Interval is not chopped off unlike the Ghajini DVD.

AGED OLD WINE STORY WITH YOUNG FRESH CHERRY GAL TRYING TO ACT LIKE KAJOL< WITH DANCING OVERTONES AND OFCOURSE YRF LAVISHA TREATMENT SAME SUPERFICIAL LIKE JBJ!

Still, for SAROOK UGLY VIEWING WITH FAMILY! Way to go!

Aditya disappoints, MMPAW was way better low scale similar film though.

I agree with you 100%

I really do NOT know who the heck is doing their DVD Authoring?!!! What happened to the time when they made Fanaa (beautiful progressive print - much superior to REM's release of the same) and even KANK was progressive (although heavily BLUE-TINGED from YRF).

Seemed to me on deeper analysis that this DVD9 was encoded CBR instead of VBR which led to HEAVY pixellations in all of the action scenes (read: music vid portions). On top of it being interlaced, even the progressive frames had ghosting!!! Did they record the DVD from playing the movie in a theatre - which of course leads to the ghosting portions)??????

You mentioned the blue tint - you KNOW WHAT??? I totally forgot about her top in the dressing room scene. I saw this film 9 times (don't laugh) at 3 different theatres...I'll have to look at the DVD9 again....though I re-encoded to my tastes for my collection. Hmmm...thanks for pointing that out. I had been so hell-bent on fixing the hybrid deinterlacing - but I couldn't do crap about the blocking/pixellations....

As for Ghajini - wow...what a beautiful print by BIG VIDEO (NOT Big Pictures' release)....GORGEOUS.
