okay... i'm a bit confused:

I am UK resident, but did not buy the ASOKA DVD when it came out due to the following comment by Sharan:
http://www.zulm.net....l=asoka

ie, that the R1 release "Director's Cut" may allow viewing without the songs.... I don't want to discuss if the songs make or break the movie, that is a personal choice, but having the option allows all their preference.

So, is the R1 "director's cut" release able to skip songs ?
Is there any difference between the offical R1 DVD and R2 DVD?
What is the definitive ASOKA DVD to buy ?
Finally, where can I get them from in the UK: cdguru?, play, ?

Please help me on this one.

Ek. :doze:

I got mine from play.com. Its a region 2 DVD and IMO the quality of sound and picture are great. I have had no problems at all. They are selling it for £14.99 dilivered for UK.

Mugambo got his in the mail yesterday from Buy.com and this DVD is TERRIBLE! The audio is in Dolby Stereo and has no surround channels.

Did you check if it had a dual audio track - the DVD I've got plays the 2 channel stereo track by default, you have to manually select the second audio track which is 5.1 - First Look can't be that dumb (so me hopes) to make this second version worse than the first release they manage put out.

I think this version just released and one previously released (both NTSC) are both by First Look and both having the same picture and sound quality. Also a PAL master has been used for this NTSC DVD as the running time is identical to PAL DVD – the NTSC one should in fact be 176mins longs if a proper NTSC DVD was to be made from scratch.

I’m not going to get another version (the one just been released), I’m about to put up the review of the version I’ve already got from Indiaweekly (next hour or so) – so decide for yourself. I could be wrong and this new version could be different to one I’ve got, but we’ll see.

Mugambo double checked the main menu and did not see any additional audio track. Mugambo will check again tonight for sure as mugambo is fairly certain he didn’t miss it. Mugambo watched this DVD till 2AM on his 58 inch HDTV in progressive scan, so mugmabo can say with certainty the video sucked.

If it's the same DVD as mine (and I think it is) - then the audio selection is under the 'Special Features' from the main menu. Also if you can, as you’re the only one who seems to have this new version – could you please check the running time on the DVD too. Much appreciated.

Well I’m about to put a review of the version I’ve got and then you can check from the screen shots to see if it’s the same version.

Review up, I tagged this the Erroneous Edition to keep it separate form the official DVD out yesterday (but still think they're the same);

I reckon they’re both the same - maybe mugambo can confirm for us later on when he has time to check it out more.

Mugambo will confirm tonight. Especially the special feature section that mugambo didn’t go into yet. What a stupid place to put the 2nd audio track. If someone can point mugambo to a screen capture software, mugmabo will gladly place the shots on Zulm. Mugambo still stands by his earlier statement that the video sucks.
