Nothing great. This is the best we have available now a days. Tamilni gone completely and VGP releasing "low resolution" versions, so we have to go with whatever ayngaran releases (or rent VHS)

Sunny,
I have been a silent reader for some time. But I am just wondering how is it you ask that question on Ayngaran dvd quality! Thought you were the guy close to them? Did I miss anything?

Ayngaran quality is crap now. The only new improvement is that they got a new opening logo sequence.

Kanda Naal Mudhal - It's an alright family entertainer with some ok songs from YSR. BTW, I really can't stand Laila.

As the thread title says, "Ayngaran Releases; Will be updated regularly", I wonder which zulmi has taken on the job of providing updates (Thread starter "Chaver" hasn't posted for yrs now). And, pl pass on to Ayanghran and get their reply regarding how to identify various released versions, (some god some terrible) of their DVDs. Moreover, if a better version has released, why don't they pull back their previous inferior batch out of of the shelves ?? Disc manufacturing cost is peanuts.

One such title in question is "Kandukonden Kandukonden", that had OK 1st release, terrible 2nd release (PAL to NTSC field averaged interlaced) and now has a third excellent Progressive, Anamorphic as well as DTS release but their distributors have no clue of the differences and they have only the 2nd release (worst of the three) in stock.

Commercially did well and got good review by many. Not sure whats wrong with this movie. Its a typical movie where everything comes as expected, so if that disappointed you, hmmm. watch Thirupathi and I bet you will never watch tamil movie.

Rana, I doubt even if ayngaran knows thats the difference between the 3 versions. They are in deep shit now and they are now focusing on releasing anti piracy version to fight against piracy than worry about quality, so for tamil, the good DVD days are over.

Occasionally we may get 1 or 2 movies / year if its really worth and ayngaran get any motivation (e.g. Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu - hope they will do atleast what they did for Khakka Khakka)

DU, on the contrary Kastooriman did not do well commerically, the director had to sell his riverside house in Alwaye to settle the money lost in the movie.

So these dvds that were released as sruthilayam is also being released by ayngaran?

Thambi, Kalaba Kadhalan and Dishyum is now in ayngaran website.

isn't that kind of stupid... most rental stores already gets the sruthilayam version they're not gonna buy the ayngaran version of the same dvd...

Forget about rental, we got all the above for sale and ppl are now asking "dont u have shruthilayam dvd" - I am stuck with Ayngaran version now. The only way we can teach them a lesson is to boycott them but that would put retailers like me behind every body else. I am still not selling Shruthi online dont know how long I can remain my virginity here :)

I heard that Aaru, Paramasivan were box office flops - even DVD sales were weak. Also, hasn't AVM pulled out Thirupathi out of circulation to stop loosing money?
