About the sound, there's not really much more I can add to what I posted above. It's disappointing being mono, but still not bad all the same.

Yeah, I checked out the KHNH disc too - it's just as bad as all the others that Bodega have released.

Great Job Stephen,
But when you buy a dvd (french version of a hindi movie) Is it a dubbed version? or it is in Hindi but the subtitles are french.

Usually with these European DVDs there are two audio tracks - the original Hindi and a new French/German/etc. dubbed track. When the Hindi audio is selected then the foreign subtitles come up, but they're usually removable.

Sometimes the special features do not have the original audio and are either partially or totally dubbed, but thankfully on the Sholay DVD everything has its original soundtrack with no dubbing.

For those that may not know this, actually there are 'TWO' Original/Theatrical cuts of Sholay. That does not make much sense now, does it? Well, Sholay was released/screened with both 35MM (Mono Sound) and 70MM (Six Track Sound) prints. The 70MM print was from day one, a longer cut of the film. There was another, even longer 3rd cut of the film, which included the 'Qawalli' sequence and was released in theatres later on in some parts of the country. Finally there is another cut now with an alternate ending, which actually is the original ending, the one that was not passed by the censor board back in 1975.
